Default PS3 Question????

Last night while playing RFOM, my PS3 completely powered off...as if it was unplugged. Stayed like that for 30 seconds or so. Then the red power light came back on...turned the system on and it has worked flawless since. Has this happened to anyone else? I almost had a heart attack thinking my PS3 did a "360" on me. It wasn't due to over-heating...I know that. My PS3 over-heated twice last November before I realized that I couldn' store it where I had it--didn't realize how much heat that baby put out. Any comments are welcome. Thnx.

May have been a power fluctuation. Sometimes there are power drops that last only a short time, not long enough for other appliances to turn off, but perhaps enough for the touch sensitive switch to power off on your PS3.... that's my best guess anyways.

If you don't have one already, I'd recommend a power conditioner or at least a "High end" power strip with good surge protection... for PS3 and HD TV !!!

thanks for the feedback...I have a $200 monster power station in storage. Just moved from ca back to tx and haven't found a house to buy yet so everything is in storage (except for my tv and ps3). But your responses make total sense.

Default note about surge protectors and PS3

I read on a post a couple weeks back that if your PS3 dies (and it does not die froma surge so your surge protection warranty is not good) and you report to Sony it is plugged into a surge protector, it void's Sony's warranty. I still use one. However, I bought my PS3 from costco, so hopefully they will replace it if my PS3 dies unexpectedly.
