Default Ghost in the Shell: Standalone Complex: Solid State Society for Blu-ray

Ghost In the Shell - Stand Alone Complex: Solid State Society Blu-ray

Ghost In the Shell - Stand Alone Complex: Solid State Society Blu-ray Review

http://www.animeondvd.com/reviews/se...p?series=11026

This is the first US HD anime announcement. Manga Entertainment, a subsidiary of Anchor Bay, is releasing this title for Bandai Entertainment (US). Manga and Bandai have co-production credits on *all* Ghost in the Shell properties where (I believe, and will be confirming that it is true with this title) Bandai Entertainment does the work and Manga Entertainment distributes.

This release is day and date with the DVD release.

Bandai doesn't do ANY work for ANYTHING. They just make money off licenses by making crappy merchandise and games for them.

Sweet! Great movie btw. A friend of mine imported the DVD and I think it's much better than the 2nd one.
I'll definitely be picking this one up.

Any idea on the price?

I'm very happy about this announcement.

Hopefully other studios will follow their lead soon when they see how much interest there is in this. Noein is distributed by Manga Ent, I think, and would make for a fantastic Bluray release.

According to this link:

http://www.animeondvd.com/news/news.php?news_view=11132

The MSRP is 39.98

update:

http://www.animeondvd.com/news/news.php?news_view=11141

Manga Ent now saying the report was a mistake.

The Japanese already have a couple Bluray releases, so I'm not all that upset. We'll get some eventually. I was just hoping it was sooner than later.

Chris, I stumbled across this today. I've been holding out on buying any 'GITS: SAC' DVDs (in hope for a BD release) but this is just very tempting. Do you know anything about a release for Blu-ray?

GitS SAC is all set to go for HD master wise, but so far no news of any release has been forthcoming. The mistake listed earlier this year I believe is the case of the "overzealous intern" at manga . With Bandai Visual holding the Japanese rights there is however a good chance of them doing a BD release once they see how well Akira and the other summer releases are doing. GitS SAC related merchandise currently accounts for 2.3% of their sales, which comes to about 630 million yen, or 5 million USD. That's nothing compared to their Gundam sales though (42,2%), so you might see that in HD first.

Thanks for the heads up. Considered that there seems to be nothing added in that limited edition, only the seven discs you get with the 'normal' box (which is only 99$), not even the DTS soundtracks, I think I'll wait for the BDs.

The above seems to be only for 1st Gig (and does not include the 2nd Gig which features the "Individual Eleven)

I think I'll pass till then.

I already have the complete 1st and 2nd Gig series on DVD, along with both movies. I would rebuy them though if they were on blu-ray.

I got the Innocence BD from CDJapan and all I can say is it is brilliant in both PQ and AQ. I don't where in the world you can find it for $30 though - maybe try eBay.

I highly doubt you'll find it for much less than $60, (if you're lucky).

Amazon JP sells it for about $52, but they only ship express internationally which is going to eat up those savings fast. It's not exactly a good movie IMO, but the AQ and PQ make up for it ten times. It's a feast for the senses.

Default Why not release the Complete Series?

Why are they only releasing the story arches on bluray and not the complete series? From what I understand is they butchered the show when they made it just the arches by changing the voice cast from the original English dub. I will pick up Solid State Society but I probably wont pick up the arches and will wait for them to come to there sences and buy the complete series.
