USA Man Hunt (1941) - October 14, 2014 - Limited to 3,000 copies

PRE-ORDER http://www.screenarchives.com/title_...MAN-HUNT-1941/

Quote:
Based on Geoffrey Household's best-selling novel, this "grim, suspenseful" (The New York Times) and "dramatic thriller" (Pacific Coast Musicians) is a "vastly compelling" (New York Herald Tribute) ride that will hold you in its grip until its riveting final frame.

Deep in the Bavarian mountains, British big-game hunter Capt. Alan Thorndike (Walter Pidgeon) has set his sights on the biggest prize of all - Adolf Hitler. But just as he is about to pull the trigger, he is captured by Major Quive-Smith (George Sanders) a Gestapo leader, who wants Thorndike to confess to being a hired British assassin. Knowing the political dangers a confession world bring, Thorndike refuses and is tortured to near death before he manages to escape. Soon the hunter is the prey as Thorndike, with the help of a beautiful street waif (Joan Bennett), uses his animal instincts to evade his captors while their very lives hang in the balance!

I'm going to pull the trigger on Man Hunt the split second that it goes up for pre-order. I love Fritz Lang's films.

Even though in all fairness the DVD does look preaty good (probably because it was released in the last 5 years).

Nick Redman: Man Hunt is a brand new restoration -- only just completed. Per Nick on Facebook...
I have the DVD and it does look good.. but this potentially could be an improvement..maybe just slightly

That's good then. Maybe someone will get around to putting out a blu-ray of You Only Live Once in region A?

I love my Spanish Blu-ray of You Only Live Once. Blu-ray.com lists this disc as Region B, but it is actually Region B/2, Region A/1. It plays just fine on my Region A player.

This Blu-ray automatically defaults to English language and English subtitles, and the picture quality is quite nice.

Oh hells yeah. The second Lang film I ever watched as a teenager my personal favorite Lang film. Walter Pidgeon is the man in this. Been waiting for this one ever since BD was launched. No doubt day one preorder.

It's been quite a while, but I may just have to pre-order a Twilight Time title again. After just getting into his films recently, Fritz Lang is quickly moving up my favorite classic directors list. This will be a blind buy, but it should be safe.

I've just watched clips from the net and it looks great. Apparently, there's was a French release from last year as well.

Day one for me! I saw this as a 10-year old back in 1973 on my local station's "Million Dollar Movie". Captivated me then, went for years without seeing it until AMC/TCM cable networks started airing it occasionally in the early 80's. Bought the DVD the day it came out a few years ago, will gladly upgrade to BD.

Just a heads up that this is available for free for Amazon Prime users.

I'm going to go this route first instead of committing myself to a blind buy.

I like the cover.

Hopefully this one lasts long enough that I can possibly group it with something else down the road. I had to place an order earlier than I wanted to already because of The Train, but I don't have much of anything else left to buy right now.
