United Kingdom Animal Kingdom (great Aussie import!) June 2011 Optimum

TBC

Talked about this here over in the Aussie section. Certainly my favourite film of the year from that island nation.

Never bought it yet as I don't like the price so hopefully we'll get a more realistic price with similar special features.

The cert will be raised from '15' to '18' because of the director's commentary...he must have a VERY dirty mouth:

A definite release day buy for me, hopefully the price will be under 20 euro. Alongside Red Hill it was one of the best films released last year.

I just want to watch this again. I literally NEVER import, but as soon as I'd seen this at the cinema (opening day, as well), I raced home to purchase it, only to find it was region locked .

Those very naughty koala-loving Australasians have released a Metalbook version of this film -it's just a DVD, but I still treat it as an act of war against us Brits. It will not stand!

Anyone have that? Got some pictures?

I can't scan the cover, but here's a photo of the slipcover. Not a big fan of slips myself, but I know that some of you are.

Thanks, but as the priest said to the altar boy, any chance of a look at the backend?

I'm waiting to find out if I go for the UK or Oz -it's all down to the extras (assuming the Optimum has the same transfer) as the Oz disc is far better than the US.

I'm *ucking bored with slips. Never did like them (binned dozens) but now they're just annoying. Saying that if they're lenticular or well thought out (like the UK Moon) then I'm a fan. But these endless meh cardboard abortions are a waste of my money.

Just watched the fab Not Quite Hollywood so I'm ready for some real PoHM action!

importing the Oz disc will be too much as this is a little too much for a small foreign film as it is.

In terms of extras, all 3 have making of while the UK has cast and director interviews while Aussie has a short film and interview with Crime person instead.

No interest in commentaries so any extras are always a big bonus for me -and I certainly don't consider this a small or foreign film. If it was set in Iran I'd say it was foreign but there's not much foreign about our Aussie cousins.

It's great Australian cinema. Let's see the list of extras!

I do love it Seen it while back.
Extras can be found on DVDtimes website just search for Animal Kingdom.
There is only interviews and making of. No idea how long the making of is tho.

I'm pretty sure the UK BD of Animal Kingdom has a couple of commentary tracks amongst all the other extras -- well the UK rental version does anyway, according to the back cover of the copy I looked at in Blockbuster earlier this week.

According to DVD Review magazine it looks like the UK is missing a few of the Australian edition's extras - the 15 minute short film Crossbow, the 25 minute interview with author Tom Noble and the poster gallery. However the Australian version is currently about £35 from EzyDVD
