Default PS3 Capabilities

I know that you can partition part of the PS3's HDD in order to install an operating system such as Linux, but can you also install lets say Windows XP? Even if XP is not operable, but Linux can perform, what kind of "computer processes" can the PS3 do if you did have an OS installed? Thanks.

Wow Long signature.... And right now, i'm pretty sure it's still a developing thing, i know you can either hook up a printer to it, or will be able too soon...Or that's what i've heard

I believe you can't use the graphics card when you're running linux, don't know if people have managed to find some sort of workaround to that.
Other than that, I believe it's actually possible, or at least it was possible to copy blu-ray movies to the HD when operating Linux.

if u install linux then u can run windows on top of linux but its horrid slow since most linuxs only uses the main ppc which is fine when u run only the linux but since sony has locked out the graphics prosoes u can`t realy run any game under lniux also u can`t use half the playsations memory(512 total 256 locked out) but anything linux can do is pretty much what u can do

Question Speaking of which...

Could someone consolidate the available info to tell us all the details of video/audio capability of the PS3, including the profile level it's capable of.

Long story short - how does the PS3 rank as a BD player?

I hope someone figures out a way to access the graphics card and the remaining memory to run perfect full screen MAME emulation and others.
