Default Honey I Shrunk the Kids/Blew Up the Kid

anyone think this would be perfect for one of those two movies on one disc things Disney does? I am surprised Disney hasn't done this already.

If they did release it they'd probably do "Honey We Shrunk the Kids" by itself, and then "Honey I Blew Up the Kid" along with "Honey We Shrunk Ourselves" as a two-pack.

I'm surprised they haven't been released yet, especially the first one. You think Disney would've cashed in on it a few years ago when Joe Johnston directed Captain America. ("From the director of Captain America!") But hopefully when they do come out they are separate releases. I only like the first movie, so would prefer to have it by itself.

The first movie is pretty brilliant. It had a great creative team behind it: writers Stuart Gordon and Brian Yuzna, who had a hand in cult classics such as Re-Animator and From Beyond, and Joe Johnston who later went onto direct Jumanji and Captain America. Just a really imaginative movie that holds up well today. The backyard landscape would be fun to see with an updated transfer. The sequels, while also fun, are nowhere in the same league as the original but I'd still welcome them on blu.

Probably Disney Movie Club exclusives at some point.

Please release the original as a standalone.
I don't want the others with it, nor do I want another lossy audio debacle as the Owen/Jackie movies.

It boggles my mind that movie like these, and Cool Runnings have not been released on BD yet.

Love the original. It would definitely be a decent seller. I like Cool Runnings as well.

Same here. I have to think there's something preventing a release of the first film or else we'd have had it already.

I had no idea both Gordon and Yuzna were involved! That makes me want to watch the film again to keep an eye open for weird subtext they may have tried to sneak into the film, (unlikely I'm sure). Like others I only really have a desire to own the first, but I'd pick up a trilogy set if it was the only option.

Freaky this thread was made on the day Honey, I Shrunk the Kids composer, James Horner tragically died in a plane crash. I loved his score for the film alongside those inventive opening titles which really set up the movie.

Long overdue a BD release. Disney needs to get their finger out and open up their live action catalog, so many classics remain unreleased. I saw a bit on a HD channel recently and it blows the DVD version out of the water, just think what a Blu-ray could be like...

Oh, he is dead? Sad for his family and friends.
I know I should say anything negative about him, but I can't stand most of his scores. I never understood how he got the jobs for those epic movies. He always used the same friggin' 4 note melody, and it sucked.
