Default Vanilla Sky

One my favorite movies, despite not being a huge fan of Cruise, but he's amazing in this roll along with the rest of the cast.

When will see this amazing film on Blu? It would look amazing!

Fantastic movie and really complex. I liked it a lot and consider it superior to the its spanish counterpart. Apart from Tom Cruise who we know can act, we get to see some really good acting from Jason Lee (I wish he did more drama and not Alvin & Chipmunks) and Cameron Diaz and a new type of role for Timothy Spall. And the end sequence with Sigur Ros is just beautiful. I can't believe it's at 33 percent at RT.

Very very good film. Definitely one of my top 20 films. I wish it would get on Bluray very soon.

Plus this movie gave us the quote of the bloody century, from Cameron Diaz in the car right before the crash.

See, I prefer the Cruz quote: I will tell you in another life, when we are both cats.

or: Every passing moment is an opportunity to turn it all around.

LOVE the fact that Sigur Ros has like, three or four tracks in the movie...

One of my favorites. "Because for a minute there, I thought we were talking about A F***ING MASK!!!!!" cracks me up every time. I normally don't care much for Cameron Diaz, but she wasn't so bad in this. Love Jason Lee and Kurt Russell. A lot of people talk pretty badly about this movie, but for some reason it has always resonated with me.

Yeah, not sure why it's so maligned. Maybe a little too complex for people to 'get'.

I agree! Jason Lee is a brilliant actor and wish he did more drama or got a lead in a movie.

Exactly. Thats the reason I'm used to hearing. What a shame. I'm a huge Cruise fan and this is in my top 5 of all time. Such a wonderful movie.

Have you guys listened to Crowe's commentary? He said there are 4 interpretations of the movie and one of them was that movie was based upon a book Jason Lee's character was writing. Though I think he's just bsing beause the other theories he listed sounded a tad ridiculous. How could you not figure out that at the end of the movie
[Show spoiler]he's been dreaming this after killed himself and then he wakes up.

Yeah, but they tell you
[Show spoiler] he's been dreaming while in cryo. The way out of the dream is to exit the dream... in this case, by jumping off the building and killing yourself in the dream. You will then wake up to reality.
It's spelled out for you, so Crowe's theories are pointless.

Yeah exactly, so I don't understand what he was trying to achieve there. He's already made a great movie, does he himself have to defend it from the critics? It's a cult classic.

Seems pretty straight forward to me. Usually I hate the "have one guy explain the whole movie at the end" type endings, but I love the scene in the elevator where he finds out what's really going on. For some reason Noah Taylor's almost fatherly delivery really gets me, as does seeing how much
[Show spoiler]David's death
affected those around him.

I agree that the film was too complex for people to really bring in the cash, despite the appeal of cruise at the time. Some movies just can't catch on with the lazy masses. People tend to just want to escape and be entertained and not use their brain while watching.

Another movie that is somewhat similar to Vanilla sky is Stay. Another movie that didn't catch on, but I think is brilliant.

Well...YEAH. I realize that was an awesome quote, I was mainly going for the "shock value" of hearing Cameron Diaz utter that line. I remember having to rewind it going "I know she didn't just say what I think she said." lol
