I just came from Target and there were 10 rows of blu-ray with 5 rows of hd dvd next to it looking pinched. The hd dvd slots all had movies in them while the blu-ray section had a bunch of empty spots.
![]() I saw a 1 min. and 58 sec. Cars on blu-ray commercial on HDNMV channel. Backed it up on tivo and pulled out a stopwatch. Blu-ray full page ad in The Official Xbox Magazine in the middle of the Call of Duty 4 article which was the cover story. Full page blu-ray ad in PC Magazine this month as well. Im seeing a lot more ads for Blu-Ray here in the UK. Tho it's not for BD specifically, but a lot of ads for movies mention "available Monday on DVD and Blu-Ray High Definition" unless the ad is from somewhere like Asda then they only advertise the DVD version.
Some disappointing news is the ad for Harry Potter also had the HD-DVD symbol of course, but it had the HD-DVD symbol before that of Blu-Ray and it was bigger ![]() I think it's clear Warner still favour HD-DVD. Can't for the life of me understand why, but they do... |

There is no war to fight in Europe or Japan. HD DVD is almost nonexistent over there from what I hear. The U.S. is the only country with people stupid enough to buy HD DVD. I hate to insult my own country but the fact that HD DVD still exists here, and only here, is pretty insulting to me.

Disney's been doing a good job advertising here, they've had several commercials on TV all of which clearly say "available only on DVD and hi-def blu-ray" at the end.
Anything from Warner (as far as i've noticed so far) doesn't mention either HD format, and Paramount/DW didn't seem to mention hd-dvd in their ads for transformers or shrek 3, only dvd. in fact the only commercial i've noticed mentioning hd-dvd was for chuck & larry on the radio, made me laugh. is that the best they've got? what's the average consumer going to think when they keep hearing/seeing dozens of commercials every day for great movies on blu-ray while the only thing being mentioned for hd-dvd is some forgetable radio ad for some POS loser chuck & larry movie saying "dvd an' hd-dvd" which sounds more like the announcer is stuttering than promoting a new format? |

I'm new here. Is there any reason why I couldn't post a link to a funny blu-ray ad on YouTube? My posts with links don't seem to appear?
The ad, btw, is called "junk closet". and you can guess what device gets thrown into it ![]() Last edited by blackandblu; 11-15-2007 at 04:11 PM. |

saw the same one with my roommate. he asked me if the commercial was blu quality and i told him no. blu will be of a much higher quality. i don't think he got it or understand compression, bandwidth, etc but he knows i know my stuff, so it works. that being said, we were both captivated by the commercial and then talking about the different movies coming out that will be picked up.
