The previous set was 3 amarays in a slipcase correct? Maybe the new release will the 3 films in a single box, or one of those chunky 25mm cases.

Not sure yet what the differences are (if any) between this re-release and the boxset already available.
New transfers, I hope. Along with lossless audio this time around.

Hopefully this. All should be AVC and BD50 this time including lossless audio. I knew it was going to happen, especially with Mission: Impossible 4 being released later in the year.
I still own my HD DVDs of the Mission: Impossible films.

Mission Impossibe: Maximum Impact Collection. "Coming Soon to the hands of your Postal Worker this October...."

Maximum Impact Collection Posties favourite, we shouldn't give 'em any ideas, you can't make this up half the time....

This is stupid considering there's a forth movie coming out at the end of the year AND there already exists a box set with the 3 movies.

Me too. I kept the HD-DVD versions since they had higher bitrate audio and M:I-III has the picture-in-picture commentary. I hope to replace it soon though.

Agreed, this makes no sense to do it before the new movie, they might as well wait so the set can include part 4. I really hope 1 and 2 get a re-do, as i've read bad things about the PQ

With the fourth film coming out this December, I just think this is going to be a rehash of the previous set, to cash in on the sequel, then an inevitable 4 film box set released around April 2012. But we'll have to wait and see, hopefully they haven't just slapped on the 'Maximum Impact Collection' for nothing!

Looks like the M:I trilogy will be re-released on Oct. 3. Sold individually or as a trilogy. No word yet on new transfers, lossless audio, etc.

I'm guessing a re-release cash grab to tie into M:I 4. It would be nice to get lossless audio this time around. I think I'll wait till the fourth film comes to blu before I buy these again and that's only if it is a re-mastered set of films.

Agreed, a 4 disc set with full remasters and better extras (at least on MI:1) would be the only likely ticket for me. Looking forward to the forth film.

The third does not need a remaster

It needs re-coded, IMO.
Or at the very least, port across the VC1 transfer from the HD DVD.
While not a vast difference, it looked better to my eye.

I will wait for another "ultimate ultimate" edition with 4th movie in it. Plus HD audio.

It breaks up more that the VC-1, but it is a good MPEG II transfer.
But in 2011 no one should be using VC-1 imho

I just emailed them asking them if they were the existing disks currently out there or new disks and I got a reply today stating that they are the existing disks we already have (re-packs).

Yippee....sorry but I just can't get my head around double dipping on Bluray at the moment. I'm just coming to terms with upgrading from dvd, thats fine but not bluray. Thanks for keeping us updated stargazer.

Love the M:I films, can't wait to see Ghost protocol.
