United Kingdom UK issue of Die Hard

Can anyone tell me what the transfer of this is like? Will it blow me away?

Is U.K version of Die Hard distributed by BVHE ? Don't expect miracles but the Blu-ray version is 110% step up from the muddy murky DVD version. It was like watching a new version of Die Hard. A decent effort from Fox for a notoriously filmed catalog title.

Euro/AUS version of Die Hard 4.0 is FOX. Transfer is pretty good, uses DTS-HDMA and if your running on a PS3 it will only do dolby digital . Id say its a worthy purchase although i think fox should put just a bit more effort into their titles.

It's Fox here in the UK for parts 1, 2 and 4. BVHE have the 3rd. I own the first and I tell ya what, it looks very good. Funny, I remember answering this question before, quite recently...

I have it and its good, nice and crisp with great audio.

I'd say 3.5 for PQ and 4 for SQ.

I’ve seen Die Hard projected at least 3 times in three different type of cinema auditorium, in Dolby stereo type A.

The later edition THX AC-3 laserdisc had virtually an identical Dolby stereo mix. When the region 2 DVD came about the mix had virtually been changed from original theatrical Dolby stereo mix.

One such scene where Hans is pointing John’s gun at him, “give me my detonators now” when John refuses and Hans pulls on the trigger (the clicking is sounded in the centre now) it should be on screen right speaker as it was original heard back in 1988.

Yeah all I can say is be wary of some re-mixes because there slyer than ever today, or you could demand your money back and by the THX AC-3 laserdisc. I wish I never sold mine off.

So I’m naturally cautious at just lashing out at every Bluray title on sight, despite high definition. If ether the sound or picture is botched Fox can keep it. I’ve spent enough on Die Hard over the years, must be at least £132.00 VHS tape rental, VHS widescreen, laserdisc THX, DVD, DVD SE…No more. Enough is enough.

Only problem you can’t make out the model number of “Kenwood 144MHz FM transceiver”. That is located to the lower right of the walkie-talkie. Well its obvious its mid to late 80’s model.

Well here’s a newer model 144MHz

I cannot find a thread relating to the Zavvi exclusive steelbook edition but can anyone tell me if that one contains a 4K mastered version of the film?

Thanks.

Fox have done a re-master from the original negatives (I assume it's 4K), but have yet to release it on Blu-ray.

I hate it when they mess with audio soundtracks too. I believe the R1 DVD and Blu-Ray come with a Stereo 2.0 track. However not sure if they are the theatrical or LD mix.
