Default Anchorman 3

Quote:
It didn’t seem like we would ever get a sequel to Anchorman, but then a new trend, which ScreenCrush has dubbed the “legacyquel”, happened and Anchorman 2 was born. So when it comes to whether or not we’ll see a third installment of the legend of Ron Burgundy, never say never. Director Adam McKay even spoke about what a hypothetical Anchorman 3 would look like.

During an interview about the filmmaker’s next film, The Big Short, Yahoo Movies asked McKay whether a potential Anchorman 3 would tackle the rise of the blogosphere and listicals.

He replied:

Quote:
That was what we kind of talked about. We talked about doing one that was about the rise of the new media. I also thought there was something to the idea — and who knows, maybe we will do one some day — I also thought it’d be cool to have Ron Burgundy get embedded in the Iraq War. We kicked around that idea. But we’ve never got that serious about it, but it would have to be the next stage of what the media has become. And I think you’re right, I think it’s the Internet. The only thing is by then Burgundy would be getting pretty old. So maybe it’s a movie we make in 10 years, when Will’s aged up and it actually makes sense that you can set it in 1997 or ’98.
McKay told Empire at the beginning of last year that Anchorman 2 would be the last one they would make. However, he backtracked quite a bit in a separate interview with Time magazine a couple months later.

Quote:
I said about a month ago that we’d never do a third one, and I realized that was a little too harsh because the truth is, I really don’t know. With these movies, you really don’t know how they’ve played until about two years after they come out, when people see them on repeat viewing. That tends to be how our movies work.
Like the man said, it could be years before we see a third Anchorman, but would you like to see Will Ferrell run a BuzzFeed-esque news organization in which he reports on memes of Baxter all day?

I'm not a big fan of Will Ferrell, but Anchorman made me laugh like a little girl. It was so silly in a very funny way, I actually liked it a lot. In the sequel, it didn't work that well for me. Everyone did a good job returning in those roles, but were huge gaps between every laugh, nothing out loud. So, I'm not sure I want to see a third one. The same for Dumb and Dumber. The actors were doing great ... But the writing, my god.

Yeah, I watched the sequel once, whereas I watch the original every now and then.

Will Ferrell can be good in small doses, but his movies seem to be hit or miss (i.e., inconsistent).

Ron Burgundy would only be like one in a million people who still can't comprehend the Internet.

Anchorman 2 was disappointing, so hopefully, they'll come up with a more comedic script than the last one and get back to what we loved so much from the 2004 original.

I don't understand the hate the second one got. It was just as funny as the first.

While I don't think it was as funny as the first, it gets really unfounded hate. It was still very funny, but I guess people wanted something better than the first. Movie was funny from beginning to end

Both films are pretty kick ass in my eyes (I'm probably in the minority that sort of prefers the sequel to the original) but not sure if this idea would work or not.

I thought the sequel made a lot of bad attempts to recreate the humor from the first movie. I'd still check this one out though...

I didn't care for the 2nd film and the first is tolerable every once and a while. I can't imagine a 3rd film being all that great. Maybe it's Will Ferrell for me. I simply don't think he's all that funny. He can be down right annoying IMO.

I loved the first Anchorman, but the 2nd was such a chore to get through. I'll probably check it out eventually, but Anchorman 2 left me feeling sour about the whole premise.

I'm not a big fan of the Anchorman movies, the first one was pretty good and had some memorable scenes but the second one was brutal to get through.

I still found it fairly funny but that whole segment of the film where he goes blind completely bogged the movie down. Take out all of that and the movie would have flowed better, it was too long.

Anchorman 2 was a big letdown. This would have to get rave reviews for me to consider seeing it.
