Nice I only owned the old MGM non anamorphic DVD of this film so this BLU I can only imagine will look so much better in HD and 16:9. I can't wait to see the colors pop on this film.

Should be a nice Scorpion Releasing title from the looks of it. I love Tim Lucas Extras Esp Commentary Track! PLEASE.

random question. does Kino ever have sales like scream/shout and Olive does? I usually can get those for about $12.99 if I look hard enough (I've just never had much interest in Kino titles till recently now that JW and Bronson titles are being added + this of course)

It's looks excellent in HD. Approximates the theatrical experience very well (saw both around the same time a few years back).

One of my all-time favorites. Can we assume this will be AIP cut only? In any case, happy to see Tim Lucas on board, a Bava commentary from him is almost a requirement!

What are the chances of this being Region All? I want to watch this since it is supposed to have been a great inspiration for Alien.

If I am not mistaken it is "It ! The Terror From Beyond Space" that is officially considered to be the inspiration for "Alien". When you watch that movie it is very easy to see why. I seem to have lost my dvd copy of "Planet of the Vampires" so, this blu-ray release will be a welcome replacement. Really enjoyed this movie.

What do you mean "officially"? Dan O'Bannon talked about both movies in interviews when asked about inspirations for Alien, as well as "Forbidden Planet."

yes, but if you watch "It" you will see some very strong similarities to ALIEN..(mainly the alien on a spaceship picking off the crew one by one) ....much more than Planet of the Vampires....

I am a big fan of It! and consider, uh, it to be one of the best horror/sci-fi hybrids ever. I'd definitely welcome a BD release (in 3-D too - if you're going to dream, might as well dream big!) from MGM or Scream, but it seems highly unlikely. In the meantime, I do have a copy of the MGMHD (or is it Monsters HD?) broadcast.

I got the DVD of IT! several years ago, and was very surprised by how potent it was. The monster might look terrible, but there's some real tension that builds through the movie as the crew gets pushed further and further back and the monster bashes through their barricades. As far as I've seen, it's the single scariest american movie of the 1950s.
