Quote:
Mightiest Monster in All Creation!

From the Creators of "Godzilla"

A sci-fi classic - the wildly colorful kaiju eiga (monster movie), MOTHRA!

Following reports of human life on Infant Island, the supposedly deserted site of atomic bomb tests, an international expedition to the heavily-radiated island discovers a native tribe and tiny twin female fairies called "Shobijin" who guard a sacred egg. The overzealous expedition leader kidnaps the Shobijin to exhibit in a Tokyo stage show but soon they summon their protector, hatching the egg and releasing a giant caterpillar. When Mothra arrives in Japan and finally transforms into the ultimate beast, impervious to modern weapons, the nation and its people face their destruction.

Starring: Frankie Sakai, Hiroshi Koizumi, Kyoto Kagawa, Ken Uehara

Special Features:

Includes both the Japanese and U.S. edits of the film

Contains feature-length commentary, trailers and photo gallery

Owning Mothra + the DVD features and both cuts, probably for less than $10? Hell yeah, Mill Creek...!

Well, it has both cuts so it's already better than the Sony MOD of Battle in Outer Space. It might not be that bad. At least the package is gorgeous.

Mill Creek can do decent releases when they try. Which I hope they will for a title such as this.

I'm looking forward to it, and hope to see much more Japanese giant monster/sci-fi goodness over the coming two years!

No kidding, what a roller coaster of emotions in just a few moments. One hand gives, one hand takes.

Ah well, I'll still buy the hell out of it.

Wasn't this one of the films that Criterion may have the rights to?

I'm probably all in anyway.

I think it was speculated that Criterion might’ve sub licensed it from Sony for a release.

As a longtime Godzilla fan, I’m very happy to see this being released on Blu-ray AND in steelbook packaging. Now, where to preorder from where it won’t come damaged.

Mill Creek is a budget company. their rep is kinda iffy as some releases have been rather good and others on the shoddy side. yes you can fin their stuff on Amazon and in many retail stores.

Now all we need is The H-Man, and I can retire that Sony "Icons Of Sci-Fi" Toho DVD set.

Read the specs before b!tching. Looks like a great release. Beautiful packaging, both Japanese and U.S. versions, special features, and the A/V will be direct from Sony, who did a great-looking restoration of this.

Sony owns this one in perpetuity (in the U.S.), much like Universal and King Kong vs. Godzilla.

I still have the RiffTrax MP3 commentary for this one, so maybe I’ll bite.
