Default Since you went HiDef, do you still purchase DVDs?

I went HiDef between November and December last year. I have not purchased any DVDs since then. I have a huge collection (under 250) of DVDs, and was purchasing new DVDs religiously every Tuesday. Since the new release selection for BLU isn't quite where DVD is weekly, I find myself buying a few Blus here and there, but I'm buying no where near the volume that I used to. I've amassed 28 Blus since last year about this time, and a large portion of that is due to BOGOs. This holiday season up to January will add another 15 or so though

Nope! It's just not the same anymore. I've purchased about 5 Blu's in the last week or so (just ordered Planet Earth on Friday). I'll prob hit up BB day after Christmas.

I haven't purchased a standard DVD in months! I even felt funny buying a standard DVD TV Set for a Christmas present.

Blegh!

It is a different story for me. I barely ever bought DVDs. If I did buy them I didn't keep them long.

Although with blu, My collection is 30+ in a matter of 4 months. I don't plan on getting rid of any either. The improved PQ and AQ just provide so much more enjoyment.

I hadn't purchased any DVD's for a couple years leading up to Blu-ray's release in anticipation of it.

Nope. None for me. (I still may pick up a TV set or two in the next few months - stuff that won't see the light of day on Blu for many years.)

In fact, I knew I was going to be jumping in to the HiDef world, so I didn't buy DVDs for the last 18 months or so like I had been (maybe 1 or 2 for the YEAR, compared to 2 or 3 a month).

Perhaps others are like me, and that is also adding to the decline of standard DVD sales?

I sometimes will buy DVDs, but only if I find them for cheap and it's a movie that I don't think will come out on blu-ray for a while.

Occasionally I'll still buy TV shows on DVD as well.

The last new release I purchased on DVD was Knocked Up.

Nope. I refuse. If it is not on Blu-ray, they are not getting my money.

Nope..between the PQ and the disc coating protection..DVD's really do feel like a waste of money now...and the home theater isn't even capable (yet) of taking advantage of the lossless audio.

I use to rent dvds from blockbuster so often that every week I had free rentals. I never bought a dvd unless it was really worth it. I too have a decent dvd collection but once I bought my first blu-ray it was all over. Now I've upgraded my hdtv three times and with the help of this board picked up a real surround sound system when I never thought I would. Don't worry about the volume of purchase you're buying quality over quantity.

I am much like the creator of this thread. I haven't bought a single DVD since going Blu, and I don't plan on ever buying DVDs again. But I also haven't been buying as many titles because of the format war. I refuse to buy the DVD of a movie when it is only available on HD DVD, so those studios are losing my business until they offer Blu.

Still buying The Simpsons season on dvd, Seinfeld, but movie wise only transformers, and Holes. Since neither are coming to blu anytime soon. I really enjoy watching Shia Lebouf act, I find him hilarious. Indy 4!

Since buying a BD, I have not purchased a single DVD. It's just too difficult to go back now.

A good amount but only because I am an anime collector, and a lot of the stuff I know wont be seeing a hi-def release for a long time.

I did buy Transformers, and am tempted on Bourne 3.
