Default BD-P1200 weirdness

I just opened the box for my BD-P1200 and my Panny TH58P750.

When I play Blu ray disks,I get two green dotted lines, from top to bottom.
They are in the middle of the screen, the lines are about 6" apart.
The dotted lines are not present for CD card viewing, Standard Def DVD's
or BR over component.

I have tried 2 HDMI cables, and have tried all 3 HDMI inputs on the TV.

Here's some pix, u can see the lines running down the screen

Anyone have any thoughts?

Does this only happen with DVD's and what connection are you using between the player and the TV?

HDMI connection, changed cables, same effect.

Only playing BR discs. Will see if it happens with SD DVD's as well.

Also, if you can try connecting your player to the TV with a component cable as well. You wanna try to narrow down the possible problem area.

Also, plug your HDMI cable into a different input on the TV.

You're supposed to be able to get 1080i through component.

I am playing a blu ray disc on component, and it shows up as 480i.

guess i need to look at the settings on the sammy.

meanwhile I am gonna grab a sony BR Player at FS with a new cable.
If I still have a problem, its the TV, not the player.

I'll take the Sony back, FS is easy for returns,

Yes, it's a setting you can change within the player to get 1080i.

I've tried researching elsewhere if this was a common problem with this particular TV or not, but I couldn't find anything. I would venture to guess though that this problem is with your TV, so I'd definitely take it back.

It's a good idea to try another player, just remember that we've already established the fact that you don't get those lines with the component cable either. The problem seems to be HDMI specific.

I bought a Sammy 1400 and theres no issues whatsoever.

So I would surmise that its an HDMI output issue with the 1200.

I bought the 1200 for $300 cash from a collegue who got it for free when he bought a Sammy LNT4665 at WorstBuy

The 1400 is $600+ Tax and it doesn't have the HQV scaling chip that the 1200 has.

Calling Sammy now about how to get the 1200 fixed.
