USA Prizzi's Honor on Blu-ray

This is one my faves from the 80's. I Have the old Anchor Bay non-anamorphic "flipper" DVD of "Prizzi's Honor" from 1999 in 1.85 ratio, I've heard rumors that that the ratio on the DVD was wrong, some people have said that the right ratio is 2.35 for the film. Which is the right ratio, I don't think Anchor Bay would put out a film in the wrong AR, and the MGM dvd is also non anamorphic in 1.85 as well. Anyway, anybody here also a fan of this John Huston classic and like to see it get released on blu?

According to IMDB, it should be 2.35. See here:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0089841/technical

However, I'm not absolutely sure that this is correct. I've always thought of it as a 1.85 film and, as you say, the existing DVDs are in that ratio. IMDB has been known to be wrong before, so maybe this is another occasion.

I'd certainly like to see Prizzi released on Blu, but frankly I'm not holding my breath. Somehow, I don't think this would be particularly high on MGM's priority list. Still, you never know.

Me too, it's guilty pleasure of mine, some new extras would be nice but I would just be happy to have the film in anamorphic on blu, it should look great since it was restored by Lowry Digital.

I also love the film Prizzi's Honor and would like to see a BD.
While I'm at it, would really like to have The Dead on BD (my favorite John Huston film). The US is finally seeing a DVD release in November. No BD though.

I posted a link to this on the Amazon Spain site, but apparently the moderators decided it was spam. Anyway, I just got it. It's awful. It looks *exactly* like an 80s movie iTunes download. The colors aren't right, there's nothing even remotely resembling film grain, and it's washed out. Yuck. Save your euros.
