Default A True Blu Noob Q

Thanks for the noob section.....

Just got a PS3 And HDTV connected w/HDMI.

My question is movies....My TV will display up to 1080i, but some of the Blu-ray discs on the shelves show that the resolution is in 1080p (they don't list any other resolutions). What will happen when I try to play this disc? If it will downsample to 1080i or 720p, what is doing it, the PS3 or the TV?

While I'm here...Is there any tricks to making SDTV look any better on my new tv?.........Didn't think so......

Thanx

Scooter

your ps3 will pick the best available format to transmit in. also, for SDTV use a hdmi cable from your cable box.

Don't worry about it. The MAXIMUM a BD can be played at is 1080p. This is the highest quality. But it can be played at any resolution less than that we well. Some people even run it on a Standard Definition set and it plays fine.
Your PS3 can automatically adjust for the best quality your TV can produce and everything it displays will come out at that quality (or up-converted to it)
