Default predator 3d

Looks like predator will be released in 3d in similar head packaging to Irobot

This is a bit shocking, honestly. I would've expected Predators to get a 3D conversion before the original movie. Either way, I hope it turns out well. I'm betting the head will look something like this, if not almost exact:

Considering the lack luster results with I Robot, don't hold your breath.

I'm not with that example, lol. Your right. There have been some conversions that have resulted with impressive results: The Avengers, Titanic, Alice In Wonderland, Monsters Inc, Beauty and The Beast, and (imo) Top Gun

Good analogies IMO, except for including Monsters Inc. in the bunch.

Monsters Inc. was actually re-rendered in the most extreme literal sense of the word. It is a 100% Native-3D production. Both left and right virtual cameras captured for the first time the original archival data, that needed hard-to-find dated-equipment for access. With significant manipulation, the creation presents two original points-of-view for the 3D feature.

The work involved repositioning characters, total volumetric changes in characters and shadow detail, complete background and object renovation, and then the placement merging for stereoscopic composition.

The 3D movie encompasses todays standards for higher resolution detail and visual performance. A contemporary rendition in all aspects to the original classic CGI feature.

My mistake. Apologizes.

If the 3d disc plays back in 2d as well, where it's more like the 2008 blu-ray release except with an AVC transfer, and not the extremely dnr'd 2010 Ulitmate Hunter Edition, then count me in.

What a rotoscope nightmare .

You couldn't pay me enough to roto a jungle, so many different branches and vines and yeeeesh.

I'll pay you 20.00 though to watch

Google Translate:
Quote:
In the jungle lands spacecraft, on whose board is perfectly equipped alien nimrod. Fair game for him to become not only predators inhabiting the jungle, but also people.

This is the prologue of the famous film, which is a popular combination genre action stories about U.S. commandos, horror and SF. Section under the guidance of an experienced Major Dutche Schaefer is planted in hostile territory where the middle of the jungle rescue several American soldiers from captivity guerrillas. After a successful event but American soldiers must fight with tajemnějším and far more dangerous enemy.

Jungle varies trap from which there is no escape and American heroes for the first time in my life getting to know what it's fear. The film, which is now considered one of the classics of the genre, attracted mainly thickening atmosphere of tension and fear, when the American supermen slow recovery from a routine bravery and balance.
Similarly successful is the concept of an alien, blurred, frighteningly mysterious characters, using perfect mimicry, whose presence signaled by thermography his eyes. Only in the final scene appear on the scene throughout the monstrosities perfect masks Stan Winston.

Ha ha....yea, I'm breaking out into a cold sweat just thinking about having to rotoscope around every leaf in every frame of every scene...

That's why they sometimes need hundreds of artists for these conversions with each one taking their share of the scenes. It also explains why some conversions can look so poor with some conversion houses no doubt just doing a quicker, cheaper blanket conversion with complex scenes or even using automated software that doesn't work very well.

I agree, I hope it does! I find it strange that this would be in 3D, not a film I would like to see in 3D personally...

Anyone think that the 2D blu-ray in this package will be better than the '08 or Ultimate versions?

It should be, there was a link here somewhere saying it is a new transfer.

Well I don't know how a 3D transfer is made but I guess it has to be "new" to even be made and that don't need to mean they did something positive with it. But I also hope!

So was this limited to 500 con exclusives?? I mean the Head is popping up in other countries, so only 500 for the US? I got my order in from Foxconnect

Sorry if this question was asked before.

It's a good question. The whole "limited edition" concept is a bit muddy in my opinion. Perhaps someone who ordered it from Fox Connect has the answer?

Here is segment of the Fox press release dealing with it:

In a first-of-its-kind activation at Comic-Con, fans can enter booth #3528 and have their photo taken with state of the art cameras courtesy of 3D Systems. Their image will then be used to make them the victim as a customized figurine is created using 3D Systems 3D printing technology that features the Predator alien holding the fans’ severed head!

The figurine is only available to fans that purchase the PREDATOR Blu-ray 3D, available exclusively for pre-order at Comic-Con and packaged in a limited edition Predator head for $129.99. Fans can also receive the figurine with the purchase of a “headless” Blu-ray 3D for $49.99.

The display at the booth indicated there were only 500 Predator Heads available. Was that for the ones sold with the personalized figurines? How about the figurines sold without the heads? How limited are the editions currently being offered on Fox Connect and every major country in Europe?

This movie could have had a more pricey conversion and had a small theatrical re-release. It would have made back its money.
