Would you not want it to be at eye level as you sit, five feet seems pretty high up to me, but i would never mount a tv on the wall anyway.

My set-up is just slightly above eye level. But I did this with the intention of watching my movies while reclined on my easy-chair. While reclined the eye-line is more comfortable.
I agree, 5 feet to the bottom of the TV is too high up off of the floor. Although, upon measurement, the very top of my Plasma is indeed 5 foot 2 inches from the floor. The bottom is 2 foot 10 inches from the floor. The center of my screen is approximately 4 feet from the floor. My setup is a little higher than most people would agree with, but your situation may vary. The best suggestion is to sit down in front of where you'll put the TV, and determine where would be the most comfortable eye-line for you. |

its a pretty solid tv but i wouldnt call it the best. im pretty happy with it but it doesnt compare to the bigger more commonly known brands that make LCDS. but its definitely better then westinghouse and olevia if that means anything and also the more lower end brands. |

Hi,
I mounted my tv using a sanus mount that puts it off the wall about 1.5 inches. It sounds really small, but considering the bravia xbr4's are kinda thick, it seems perfect after everything is installed. I originally told the installer I wanted the center of the screen to be dead on 5 feet off the floor. He says "That is too high.." I had read that 5 foot from the floor to the dead center of the screen is about perfect for most home theatre installs on several websites, but figured he was the expert since he hung dozens in a month. Anyhow, long story short.... its about 6" higher than I would have liked it. I recently measured the distance from floor to center of screen and guess what?!?!? Its 5.5 feet off the floor (6" higher than the 5 feet I originally suggested). LOL! ![]() The point of this long silly story is that 5 feet from floor the center of screen is about damn perfect for a 40+ inch tv IMHO... Measure it yourself and mark it off for them. I dont think mine took into account the location on the wall mount the tv would sit (sits at top of flush mount). Avoid the problems and mark 5 feet on the wall where you want to hang it..then aim to put the center of the screen on the mark! X ![]() EDIT -- I just re-read that you have a 32" tv. I'd hang it a bit under 5 feet then. I think my 46" woulda been perfect at 5 feet, so you might want to go down 6"-12" since you have a smaller set. Good luck! ![]() Last edited by xivex; 12-03-2007 at 08:23 PM. |
