Default The Groove Tube (1974) Hen's Tooth Video

http://henstoothvideo.com/blu-ray/

Quote:
The Groove Tube spoofs television and commercials in an outrageous series of skits. Lampooning everything from cooking shows to public service announcements, this fast paced predecessor to Saturday Night Live deftly assaults the medium of television itself. Both Chevy Chase and Richard Belzer made their screen debuts in this wild comedy hit.
Comedy, Rated R, 1080p High Definition 16x9 Widescreen (1.85:1). Restoration by Gamma Ray Digital from a 4K scan of 35mm archival film materials in the collections of the Library of Congress.

Great news! I thought this had zero chance of ever appearing on blu-ray.

Hen’s Tooth Video has just set Ken Shapiro’s The Groove Tube (1974) for release on Blu-ray and DVD on 5/25, newly restored from a new 4K scan of a 35 mm archival element in the collection of the Library of Congress. There’s no word yet on extras, if any. Chevy Chase and Richard Belzer each made their screen debut in the film.

I've watched this more times than I can count. Will definitely buy this, wish they could also include everything from the original video elements as well though. Almost seems wrong to watch this on an HDTV.

Saw this originally in the theater in 1975 on a double-bill with Monty Python & The Holy Grail.....

I was in sixth grade when I watched it premiere on HBO. I was too young to understand the humor. I remember my parents not approving of me watching R-rated humor! I remember not understanding why Koko The Clown told the adults to step out while he needed to tell the kids more serious pressing matters, lol. I’ll definitely get this.

I do love this film, but I'm surprised it was in the Library of Congress...

You have that backwards. He tells the kids to get the adults out of the room.

Pre ordered as well.. This and the Flesh Gordon movie posters really drew me in as a kid and I really wanted to see both based on poster art alone, not knowing the content.... never got around to seeing them as an adult, I'll be able cross them both off the list of childhood mysteries once this one arrives...
