Default Does sending in my PS3 UPC for the rebate VOID my sony warranty?

Im curious of all you guys who have bought the players or a ps3 and sent in for the 5 free bluray movies. They require that you send them the ORIGINAL UPC code.... but if i cut that out and send it away never to see it again wouldnt that void my sony ps3 warranty?

So if i have a problem down the road in a few months or whatever for some reason then i will have 150 dollars in free movies but a 400 dollar broken player that i cant do anything about?

Is there something im missing? It just doesnt seem like its worth the risk? Or is there anyway i can request the UPC be sent back to me with my movies? Since im assuming its just for verification purposes....

Any help or thoughts on this subject would be appreciated. Thanks!

NO IT DOESN'T.....
Register your unit with the serial # on that unit with Sony and you are good to go.

The UPC code is on the box the PS3 came in, correct? Not on the PS3. So, you should be fine. When you send your unit back in for service they only want a copy of the original receipt used for purchase. I just had mine serviced and this is all they needed.

1) not that i dont believe you because i do and i HOPE you are right haha.... but is there anyway you could post up a link or something that states this? or direct me to where i can find that info?

2) i registered on the psn.... but is there somewhere online or somewhere on the ps3 i need to go to and put in the serial number etc? also where is this serial number found? on the upc or somewhere else?

thanks a ton man...if this works out ill be VERY happy and will be sending away for my free blurays tomorrow

They wanted the serial number off the unit and a copy of the original receipt. I never registered my unit. I had the original box in the garage but didn't need to go get it for this repair. Not sure what your friend was talking about.

awesome thanks.... i am all signed up for playstation underground and i registered my ps3 hardware. i also like how they have a spot to catalog your games kinda like the dvdspot thing.

so now that im officially registered with my serial number... the UPC code isnt needed for anything? if i have a problem with my ps3 they will need just the serial number and my receipt?

also is the UPC for the free blurays the POS barcode one? its the only one on my box outside of a sticker that has the ps3 serial number on it as well.

thanks!
