Default My question for gladiator Blu-ray purchases with $10 mail in rebate of UPC

What about if the studio does end up offering a trade in program for a new HD remaster of Gladiator. Arent they going to want your current Blu ray copy that HAS the upc on it? So if we do this mail in rebate with upc off the current blu ray, then we are stuck with it? How did the fifth element trade in program work?

If a replacement program happens, the studio will most likely only want you to send in your disc and you'll get a new one in return. That's how a few that I've taken part in have worked.

Well I think if you were stupid enough to buy it after all the warnings from people all over this forum then that is your own fault.

All of the warnings were from people that did not see the movie, they just made judgements from the screen shots

It's a tad early to start worrying about a non-announced trade-in-program for a title that just came out this morning....

+1.

Wait for the review or rent. If it sucks, maybe don't buy it.

Why is everyone who bought this assuming there's going to be a trade-in program?

Agree! 99.99999% of the "warnings" were posted from people who had not watched the release.

I think a trade-in program entirely depends on how many copies of Gladiator on Blu-ray are sold, and how many complaints Paramount receives.

Sony decided to offer a trade-in program for The Fifth Element because they knew they royally screwed up, and the sales numbers and complaints warranted a better version. I guess since they sold so many copies of The Fifth Element they knew a reissue wouldn’t be an entire loss.

It is too soon to tell what Paramount will do with Gladiator. If you're on the fence, rent it, if you're happy with the presentation, buy it. If you don't like the transfer, don't buy it. Really it is that simple.

The professional reviews for it were also terrible....I'm hoping Paramount will do something similar if the Gladiator reviews follow the same trend

Exactly, but if they don't sell enough copies where will they get the money to reissue Gladiator? To set up a trade-in costs money, to fix the movie costs money. If they don't sell enough copies of the version released today I am not sure if we'll every see a trade-in,

From the hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue they generate each year? It's not like a ten year old catalog title makes up the majority of their earnings....

The screen shots look awful compared to good looking transfers so I will pass on watching this eyesore.

I'll be making my judgments tonight, legitimately

Not sure, people are jumping the gun, but with my investment of 7.99 I'm not too worried about it. If I don't like the transfer and see no reason to keep it over my DTS DVD, then I'll just sell it.

I don't think you have to worry about a trade in program anytime soon if my local best buy is any indication. I got the second to last copy of gladiator, and they didn't have any copies of braveheart left when I went after work.

My BB had about 15 of each when I picked up my copies. So they were loaded
