I think a trade-in program entirely depends on how many copies of Gladiator on Blu-ray are sold, and how many complaints Paramount receives.
Sony decided to offer a trade-in program for The Fifth Element because they knew they royally screwed up, and the sales numbers and complaints warranted a better version. I guess since they sold so many copies of The Fifth Element they knew a reissue wouldn’t be an entire loss. It is too soon to tell what Paramount will do with Gladiator. If you're on the fence, rent it, if you're happy with the presentation, buy it. If you don't like the transfer, don't buy it. Really it is that simple. ![]() |
