USA 20 Million Miles To Earth / It Came From Beneath The Sea - 8/19/14 Pre-order

Looks like Sony has licensed two films from their Harryhausen boxset over to Mill Creek Ent. It includes 20 Million Miles To Earth and It Came From Beneath The Sea on a single disc, and releases on August 19th.

Update: Just want to update this post to say that this set will not have any of the extras found on the previous Harryhausen releases, nor the color versions. Just the B&W films are included here.

20 Million Miles To Earth / It Came From Beneath The Sea - Ray Harryhausen Double Feature Blu-ray

Does anyone know if this means the boxset is going (or has gone) OOP?

If the box is no longer available, this is good news for Harryhausen fans. For those of us who have the box, my question would be why revisit already released products when you still have "First Men in the Moon" and "Three Worlds of Gulliver" unreleased and sitting in the wings? I also know these unreleased films have fantastic HD transfers as they have been featured on the Sony Movie Channel. Go figure. I guess Sony is embracing the Disney unfathomable, bizzaro world model of releasing its films on Blu-ray!

I definitely want those along with One Million Years B.C.

I seem to remember Twilight Time hinting at releasing First Men in the Moon, but I'm not sure if it was ever official. Personally, I'm also hoping for One Million Years B.C. at some point. (But I'd gladly snatch up any Harryhausen that comes along).

EDIT: Just saw your post HD Goofnut. (high five)

What is the point of Mill Creek?

Re-releasing movies already released on one disc. Great business model.

I don't know but I finally bought a copy of the box set last week because I wanted to get it before it did go out of print. I do know that (at times) "It Came From Beneath The Sea" has been a bit more difficult to find at a low price (compared to the other 3 titles). I don't know if it was ever available apart from the set.

Yeah, it's been on my wishlist for a while now, so I think I might as well pull the trigger on it. There's so many good deals lately though so it's bad timing, at least for my wallet

The box-set has been out-of-print for about 6 months or so. It seems there are still plenty of copies out there, though, at least for now.

If you're a fan of Harryhausen, you really need to get the box set before they're gone. You won't be disappointed.

Just checked over at Amazon, it looks like it will only be the black and white versions.

I think First Men in the Moon was hinted as a 2015 title.

I might have to get this. It would be great if Mill Creek also released a double feature with the other two films in the set.

I did suggest it to them , since they have the film.. If they did it right, it would look really beautiful in HD...
Come to think of it... why not the whole Mothra Series in a blu ray box set

That's certainly a good sign, as they should look a bit better than squeezing four films on one disc, although with such short movies even that shouldn't look too bad if there are no bonus features (like the surprisingly decent but not great Gamera sets). The colorized versions looked somewhat better than I was expecting but still mostly seem more like moving hand-tinted lobby-cards than like films actually shot in color.

Unfortunately the black and white versions look like they are slightly reduced in contrast with oddly distorted gamma so that the colorizing could be more effective, rather than like original rich black-and-white contrast that other Sony/Columbia B&W titles have. I doubt if these are new black-and-white masters but if they were they might actually be worth a double-dip.
