Default 28 Days Later - PQ

Not sure how to describe it. I want to say the DVD version looked better? Can anyone give their opinion on this? I am watching right now and I love the movie and was not expecting POTC HD at all. I just was not expecting this kind of quality.

Makes you greatful for Blu, that's for sure!

I guess you missed all the other threads on the subject? It was mostly all shot on a DV Camcorder and isn't really capable of much better PQ than what you will see on a DVD. The sound at least should be an improvement but the PQ won't be much better than the DVD version.

Again for the 302842049234 times

It was shot at 720x576i, in MINI DV, so the quality of the master source is crap and there's a whole reason for that.

Actually the BluRay version don't have Edge Enhancement over the Edge Enhancement. Those mini dv cam already apply edge enhancement to the picture and you can't do anything about it. Screenshots on Hometheater forum show that FOX applied EE to the DVD (like they always does) on top of the already found EE, but did not on the BluRay

The only actual time you'll get better PQ on this movie is in the last 5 minutes because those were shot on Film

I don't remember if the Commentary Track is on the BD, but listen to it, very informative..

A lot better than 28 Days Later. This is based ONLY on the fact that I watched 2 / 3 minutes of it in different chapters. Looks much better, however it does have a "300" grain to it.

Worth the buy tho.

ROFL I hated that. You could barely even notice the grain on 300 it was so MINIMAL. Youd have to be looking for it to notice it.

Jesus, just be happy they're on bluray to begin with! Films are done however they're done according to the director's intent, and we should all be grateful that we can purchase these on blu. And I don't mean the 28 movies, I mean all films. Everybody has a judgmental eye, but try to remember that it's director's intent.

Sarcasm, right?

So I know that 28 Days Later will be low PQ, but 28WL has grain like 300? If so, I'm taking it back and I'll just stick to the SDVD.

So for a few dollars less you'll go with the same amount of grain, yet a less detailed picture?

Yep. That's the way it was intended.

In fact, you should take back your BD player because they're releasing an update that adds intentional grain to all movies played. Yes, including DVDs if you're using a PS3.

Because that is what I'm griping about, all movies. Get a grip. 300 looked absolutely ridiculous when I watched it compared to what I saw in the theater. I saw 28 Weeks Later in the theater as well and I'll be rather upset if I see the same thing happen to this movie where the director turns the grain up a few notches and ruins fine detail. I know it is director's intent, but it can be ridiculous at times.

And no, I wouldn't buy the SDVD instead of the BRD. I've already seen both and was just buying them to add to the collection and showcase the TV (notsomuch with 28 Days Later though).

So yeah...I knew about the poor qualiety before popping it in. Still have to say I am sad. All but five minutes ofthe movie looks worse than SDVD. The last five minutes makes me think of what could have been. Ah well, still a fantastic movie, and I am glad it is Blu exclusive. On to the sequal.....(will be the third new Blu I have seen today.....all after putting in 9 hours at work)

Not nearly as bad. Some scenes will be grainy while others are absolutely dazzling.
