I'll see you all in a few days! My 52" Sony Bravia KDL52W3000 arrived today and I have a 2 month backlog of purchased BDs to watch. I have only had a 21" CRT TV during that 2 months and refused to use it for BD playback. Here is the list of what I will be catching up on...

300 (watched)
The Invisible (watched)
Speed (watched)
Weeds S1
Enemy Of The State (watched)
Goodfellas (watched)
Stir Of Echoes
Stranger Than Fiction
The Patriot
The Fifth Element (remastered) (watched)
Troy (Director's Cut)
Pearl Harbor (watched)
Cruel Intentions
Planet Earth
The Island (watched)
March Of The Penguins
Pirates Of The Caribbean 2
Galapagos (watched)
Saw (watched)
Saw II (watched)

The following have shipped,

Black Hawk Down
Closer

And the following might arrive while I'm taking care of the above,

Spiderman 1
Spiderman 2
Spiderman 3
Cars

Phew... I'll have to get a few bottles of Visine to tag along with me on the journey.

Ciao for now my Blus Brothers!!!!

How did you decide upon the 52W3000? I thought you said your budget was $4,000. I'm really interested in this set so let me know how it turns out for you. Do you think you'll regret not getting the Motionflow tech? If you don't mind me asking how much did you get this for and where? I think I'm more interested in the 24p than I am the Motionflow, ,but I've neer seen either so I'm not sure which is more important. Can someone let me know which they prefer...and I understand that it probably depends on the filming.

Dude I feel you. My Sony SXRD just went out and it's gone for repair so I've been without a TV for my Blu-rays for a week now and I'm depressed as hell.
Have fun!!!!!

I decided on it because the XBR4 wasn't available in my region through FutureShop at my special discounted price (explanation below).

Maybe a little, but the W3000 is still amazing for the price I got it at. Plus, upon further consideration, when I thought about the fact that I will be mounting it on the wall in the future, the W3000 frame is much more elegant. It looks like a very ritzy picture frame.

Sorry, I can't tell you the price I got it for. What I can tell you is that my future brother-in-law got a signifigant job with a FutureShop that just opened in my hometown. The night that they opened their regional manager approved staff discount pricing to all family/friends of that stores employees. I was there faster than lightning could strike!

The motionflow is definitely a bit more beuatiful when it comes to PQ. I highly recommend that you visit a SONY STORE to see both of these TVs in action. You will like the PQ of the XBR4 better, but the visual appeal of the W3000 physical design makes up for the lack of MotionFlow.

AS ADDICTED AS I AM TO BLU-RAY, I CAN'T STOP VISITING THESE FORUMS! I've watched '300' already and I'm in the middle of 'The Island'. I find myself with many typos as I'm posting because I keep shifting my gaze from the laptop to the screen. Hell, the TV is big enough that I can almost make it out anyways overtop of the laptop screen!!!! LMAO

Got a great deal on the set than huh. Well I found a website that has this set for $1,999 and the 52XBR4 for $2,849. I think I can talk the wife into the XBR4, but it may be difficult. I was reading about the Motionflow and heard that is looks unnatural at times and can cause artifacting. I also heard that if you really like the Motionflow that it can become addicting and watching without it will then irritate you. I'm not sure if I should jump in and get the XBR4 because the Motionflow is such new technology that it may get better in sets to come, but I really want a better set NOW. If I can talk the wife into the XBR4 it may be the way to go because of the Bravia engine PRO which can upconvert HD signals into 1080p...anyone know if it upconverts SD? Anyone else purchase or heard of this website:
Lcdplasmadeals.com

It's a really great price for the KDL52W3000...I don't know what to do. Btw how does The Island look? I'm sure it's amazing.

EDIT: I did some research on lcdplasmadeals.com and it seems they aren't too reputable ignore all that stuff I said about them.

That is a great deal on the TV. I did pay more for it than that price (with the shipping taken into account), but I am also in Canada so the prices on high end consumer electronics are still a bit inflated.

P.S. 'The Island' has some of the richest colours I have ever seen on a TV. Michael Bay used amazingly warm golds and chillingly crisp blues.

You can turn off the motion flow on the xbr4, it has a off, standard and high setting. I personally dont like it, but others love it.

What it is that you don't like about it? I just need to go check these out for myself I guess. I'm really interested in the XBR4...will Black Friday possibly have amazing prices for these sets?

You need to buy Kingdom of Heaven; Director's Cut.

This movie is 100x better than the theatrical version and really made it come together.

I wish they'd have shown the director's cut as the theatrical version, I think it would have done much better.

btw, Congrats on your TV!!!!
