PS3 games (are they region free)

Can anyone tell me if PS3 games are region free. They are much cheeper on amazon.com than amazon.co.uk.

region free, but studios can opt to add region code if they wanted too. if you use SDTV, they are not quite region free. titles such as tekken 5 DR and GTHD (EU version) don't work on Japanese PS3

Anyone know if SingStar is region free? I would imagine it is. But I'm guessing you might need a UK PSN account in order to get any new songs or updates.

We were going to get it for my little sister, but alas, it is not out in the US yet.

I know you have a Region A player but have you tried Region A games on Region B PS3? Is there a list of region free games anywhere?

I own both Region A and B machine (Japanese/UK), and 1 Japanese PS3 games (Ridge Racer 7) and 1 UK PS3 games (Resistance). All worked fine in both machine (provided that it's in HD mode), but the circumstance might be different if you use SDTV.

Blu-ray regions have nothing to do with PS3 games. For the most part, PS3 games are region free, though you might run into problems running some games on SDTVs. (PAL game on NTSC, and vice-versa) If you run them in HD though, you should be fine, as others have said.

Every single PS3 game is region free!

If you're playing all your PS3 games in high definition all you have to worry about is how the online play works. If the game isn't out in Europe yet you'll be mostly playing the regions where it is out and latency may be higher. If you're really unlucky regions will be kept apart so even once the game launches in your region, you'll still not get to play local gamers. Few games seperate regions now but it's worth looking into for each game.
