Default Star Trek TNG Blu-ray Amazon Sale ($34.99)

Well today got a nice surprise (and a wallet hit) today (Sept 13, 2015). Star Trek TNG, Seasons 2 thru 6 on sale for $34.99 each. Normally they range from $48 to $59.

Season 1 is on sale for $24.99.

Unfortunately this doesn't include Season 7, still up there in the $75 range.

I nearly completed my collection, getting Seasons 2, 3 and 5. (Already had seasons 1, 4 and 6 which I got on the last Amazon sale way back when).

Don't know how long this sale will last but if you need to complete your ST-TNG collection, now might be a good time.

Finally can yard-sale all my old DVD sets.

Looks like S6 is not part of this. It's still $48.

Good prices for the US releases, although if you don't mind ordering from overseas, they can be had for even lower (maybe much lower). I know some don't care for logos, thicker cases, won't look the same as others in the set, etc., etc. Me, I don't give a rats a$$ as I long as I have the content.

You guys don't always get the box sets, and if I remember TOS was just three normal seasons shrink-wrapped together and not anything fancy.

I'm not really waiting for a sale on season 7, more just haven't gotten around to it yet, but I would have jumped today if it was on sale. Oh well.

I think I'll tell my wife to tell my in-laws to get it for me for Christmas.

Waiting for these to go on sale for dirt cheap ended up not being a good idea in the long run. As many of you know, they didn't just plop this series onto Blu-ray. Many hours of painstaking work went into making this right for HD. And that costs a bunch of extra cash. I know these seasons weren't cheap but I wish more people had supported these restorations. If you're waiting for the complete set for under 100 bucks, good for you. It's the last Star Trek series you'll get on Blu-ray. Enjoy.

I've made that same point before and got eaten alive, so prepare yourself.

For what it's worth I got 2-6 on day one for normal price. Was out of the country when season one came out. There was a lot coming out the same day as 7 and I was nowhere near caught up, so it got put off. The dice had rolled by that point anyway.

I didn't pony up right away either. The issues they had with season one was part of my delay. But when I did the research and saw the hard work that went into every damn episode, I realized it was something I really wanted to support. The low sales of this really effect not only future Star Trek on Blu-ray but really TV on Blu-ray in general. I think we all got so used to really cheap Blu-ray prices that the price point seemed really high on these ST: TNG sets. That's until you take into account the hard work that went into each overall season. It really is too bad.

I ordered from Amazon Germany and received all seven seasons for $130 in a complete set. Only all the box descriptions are in German. Even the front of the box says "Star Trek: The Next Generation - The Full Journey" in English as well as the spines are all English too. And all the stuff on the disc defaults to English (based on your player's settings I imagine.)

I'd definitely recommend importing it.

I bought all 7 seasons, day one. Really sad that we are stuck with DS9 and Voyager on DVD.

I would love to support all efforts and buy everything on day one, but unfortunately I'm not wealthy. Stupid bills keep coming.

Have these been coming with slip covers lately? I'm normally not a stickler for such things but all I need is season 3 and all of my other sets have slip covers. Thanks.

I bought S4 several months ago and was disappointed it didn't come with a slip. Been visiting the slipcover thread in the trading forum every now and then looking for one. Only need S5-S7 (skipping on S2 for now; I have it on DVD). I'm probably going to order S5, but not expecting it to come with a slip.

I've been checking every day for the last couple months trying to find a S5 slip. Blurays for Everybody has S1-4 and S6 for sale. I've been tempted to try buying it from Best Buy to see if it comes with a slip and then returning it but i don't want to put someone else in the same position i'm in. So the hunt continues.

I need seasons 6 and 7 so this stinks for me. This must have sold well from the start though because from seasons 1-5 I only got season 2 with a slipcover.
