Default Will Mark Hamill get another chance in Hollywood?

Always liked Mark Hamill and he has had a great career doing voices for cartoons but I always thought it was sad that he never was taken seriously as an actor nor has received many roles besides Star Wars. His only main other roles have been Corvette Summer, The Big Red One, The Night the Lights Went out in Georgia and his last serious role in a big Hollywood movie was Village of the Damned.

The new Star Wars movie is awesome for Hamill, but does anyone think he'll at least get some side roles with some bigger Hollywood films or respectable directors? He has evolved into a very entertaining character actor with his cartoon voice work and he was the only excellent thing in the awful B-movie Sushi Girl.

I understand that his accident may have changed his career but he doesnt even look bad at all especially when someone like Mickey Rourke got another chance with his plastic face.

Does anyone think Hamill will get some decent roles after the new Star Wars or is he just going to continue with the cartoons and B movies? At least one or two films. For example, it was awesome when Peter Weller got cast as a leading villain in the last Star Trek film. He's disappeared again but it was great to see him return in a huge role.

He doesn't really need one. He's a insanely popular voice actor.

Mark Hamill is horrific in front of the camera, he is best suited in roles such as the Joker.

Indeed. He is also a Comic Book Historian or something like that isn't he?

Anybody who can't recognize Hamill voicing the quirky villain in just about ANY cartoon action series (or Disney Ghibli movie) of the last twenty years deserves to embarrass himself with a thread like that.

I'd imagine he receives a fairly comfortable amount in residuals and royalties these days.

what did you see with him in front of camera - that Silent Bob film?

He's been good in those few movies I listed so of course he seems bad if he's stuck in a slew of amateur straight-to-video films.

I just feel bad because he had one of the most iconic roles (Luke Skywalker) and would be recognized wherever he showed up in a film so I always thought that producers never marketed him well. Even Hayden Christianson had a few starring films after the prequels. Hamill didnt get any starring roles after he was all done with Return of the Jedi. Was he considered a bad actor during the Original Trilogy times or was he known to be hard to work with?

Speaking of Silent Bob, do you think Kevin Smith just took the easy way out? It was like he said to himself "Well I want to be in my own movie, but I don't want to have to remember lines. I'll just create a character that doesn't talk much, that will be me."

Yes and also so that he could be the "cool, silent-type bad-ass character that when he does talk, it's words of wisdom" like in the comics. The problem is that Silent Bob isnt that cool or bad-ass anymore, just dated. He ain't no Snake Eyes.

I don't see him doing many other Hollywood films after the ST, but I still see him doing voice actor work, which he's very good at.

I don't think he was ever considered much of an actor to begin with. Maybe Tarantino could do something with him since he helped John Travolta and Robert Forster out, but I'm sure he makes great money with all his voiceover work and everything Star Wars-related.

Sometimes things just end for actors and they have to take whatever roles they can -- Michael Madsen, Michael Pare, Harry Hamlin, Jason Priestley -- but Hamill doesn't lack for voiceover work. Plus you'd have to think he's getting more money for the next Star Wars movie than his last one.

I thought Mark Hamill was great in Sushi Girl . . . wasn't a half bad movie either.

Ironically, I always thought that Tarentino only saved Travolta's career but it seems like he actually helped Bruce Willis' career as well since he wasnt in anything that good between 1990 and 1994 (the only decent film between Die Hard 2 and Pulp Fiction was Last Boy Scout). I never realized that the majority of Willis' films are actually pretty crummy - it seems like he made one good film every five years.

That would be nice if Tarentino could hook him up especially if he sees Hamill in Sushi Girl. I wouldnt mind seeing him play a crazy villain which Hamill seems suited to do now but I would still like him to be in some kick-ass heroic role - R-rated - let him be an uncensored bad-ass in some western or a Liam Neeson type role.

Well with Willis I think he at least got his career back on track, at least for a little while. You had Pulp Fiction, Die Hard with a Vengeance, and then Twelve Monkeys.
