Green Lantern was released on 3D Blu-ray in a variety of countries. Wherever you buy it from, the discs are REGION FREE and include English audio. Please note that all 3D Blu-rays only contain the theatrical version of the film. The extended cut is 2D only.
![]() Green Lantern 3D Blu-ray ![]() Green Lantern 3D Blu-ray Review 3D Bluray release confirmed for Oct 14th. It is a 3DBD, BD, DVD, DC (with whatever's its called Ultraviolet [cloud-based] digital copy). In addition, there will be an exclusive bonus download code in the package for the PS3 version of Batman: Arkham City allowing you to play Bats in Sinestro Corps uniform. http://bluray.ign.com/articles/118/1189817p1.html The only part I'm upset about is that while its getting an extended cut (huzzah!), the 3D version will only be of the theatrical release. So we will be forced to choose between the more complete vision of the film (and hopefully the better vision of the film) and the more dynamic presentation of the film. I very much hope they offer a double dip down the road. I am in for this for Day One, but wish they'd offered a branching 2D/3D version so we could at least see all there is at once. It's still 2 months away, so maybe they'll get around to offering that (maybe we can find an email address that the WB ignores to write them emails about it that they can ignore.) Maybe I'll write them and tell them a geeky wh0re who bought this on Day 1, and would be willing to buy a double-dip on the next Day 1... They might like that kind of email. I'm looking forward to this one too. Liked it a lot in the theater. It's too bad the extended version will not be on the 3D disc. That doesn't make any sense. Unless they change that I guess I won't be seeing the extended version. I doubt I'll watch the 2D disc. And I most likely won't buy it twice either.

I don't know that they'll do it with this one unless the franchise moves forward. Maybe they could make a DC comics 3D release event and do a double (triple actually) of Superman Returns with 3D scenes back in. I had no IMAX near me at the time, so I never got to see that scene in 3D- though it looked pretty amazing on the Anthology set. Hoping for some exclusive tricked out sets for GL also. I was worried the US wouldn't have a cool Thor one, so I was lucky enough to find someone to pre-order the Thor Helmet w/ Steelbook from Germany for it. It won't get to me on Day 1, but I'll be watching my mailbox pretty anxiously. I wish the US would step up its packaging attempts. This would be a pretty cool opportunity (especially as the center of the GL power batteries is circular and could house discs if they did a Power Battery edition of GL. |

For this release, I am not saying there is any chance of them finishing the 3D- all my email asked them was if they'd spend a little bit of effort and give us a seamless branching 3D/2D option. And I told them, that I would absolutely buy a double dipped release if they ever got around to it. Just like I've bought Superman Returns 4 times, and most of the Harry Potter series that many times so far, and will buy each of those one more time when they release the appropriate films in 3D (even if it's just a turn your glasses on now sort of thing). |

That depends on when they cut it and how far vfx had gone with it- given that there were vfx in a solid percentage of the movie. Depending on when they cut it, there could have been a lot of work required (CGI/music and other audio mixing/etc)- and if it was a very late cut, then there is no indication that the 3D conversion wasn't already started on that stuff.
And again- for now, I'm just wishing it will be available on the 3D disc- ideally with a branching option. |

The version of this movie shown in theaters was bad, I'm hopeful that the extended cut is better and/or the 3D is great but I expect this will be one I buy on day one and trade into Moviestop before the week is up and the trade in value is high.

I didn't see GL at the theater, so this will be a day one purchase for me too.

But the Green Lantern game was cool in 3D- especially all the cut scene stuff. In the future 3D extended edition (that I understand- won't actually happen), I dream of them just including a 3D cutscenes storyline from Rise of the Manhunters. It's all made, and the game has probably made as much money as it's going to. I think having a cartoon movie type thing as a 3D special feature (probably have to be on a separate disc) would go a long way towards getting people to double dip... shame it won't happen. |
