Default Any "real" and "objective" thoughts out there????

Ok, let me say from the start I'm all blu...I'm betting on Disney, Fox and Sony.

Now, about all the rumors.................

I do web searches, visit a lot of the forums, etc. and just can't seem to get any solid information. It's like: "something" is going to happen for blu in so many days......."something" is going to happen for red in so many days, etc., etc., etc.

I know there's an insiders forum posted..............

Anyone have any solid info (I understand I'm on blu-ray.com), hard data, etc. where all this is going

I'm COUNTING the days for the RESIDENT EVIL TRILOGY

I can't name my source, but I can tell you with 90% assurance that Warner Bros will go blu-exclusive some time between 1-1-08 and the release of the LOTR extended versions box set.

I believe because it's highly likely...

WB cannot deny the BRay to un-HD sales ratios...

It is what it is...I just can't wait until it's official...

What will happen to all the un-HD players? Will they have proper burial and be sent to heaven so they could perhaps be reincarnated into Blu-Ray players?

Let's all hope and pray for such...amen...

Do you even have a source? Or is your source that imaginative little alien in your head?

I can tell you with 100% certainty that Warner Bros may announce Blu Ray exclusivity sometime between today and never.

And don't forget Lionsgate too, although not the powerhouse that Fox/Disney/Sony is..

Great question and great that you're researching it on your own, but the point is that this is a rumor. This is not a set in stone fact. If people think this is a fact that WB is going to go Blu, then unless they are privy to some super secret insider knowledge, then all should be hopefully optimistic but don't count your blessings just yet.

As far as where the rumor came from, it was from the fact that Dan Silverberg made some comments about Blu-Ray saying WB will remain committed to it throughout 2008 and on top of that they are evaluating their neutral stance 4th Qtr. The only way to read that (you can't spin it at all) is that HD-DVD support is being evaluated.

What makes this unique is that later an exec for Lionsgate basically said the rumor around was that WB is going to go Blu (paraphrased). This was published, and a short time later picked up by various news outlets.

Additionally, the last time we dealt with this type of rumor (SA0CD hoax) was that the insiders here shot it down completely within 15 minutes. It never got picked up by the press, never generated steam, and we actually had a good time with it. This time it is different. The source is different, and the tune for HD-DVD backers and Blu has changed. HD-DVD backers (shills) actually sound worried, and Blu are very optimistic or flat out can't comment on it (implying theres something to comment on). Any attempt to find out anything from WB sources is stonewalled, neither confirming nor denying. Instead in roundabout ways they say they are always evaluating. See Silverberg comment on Blu for what they are evaluating.

On top of that you've seen the birth of the new argument, and that is Digital Downloads are the future. Only HD-DVD shills are saying this is the future, and are prepping for something devastating to HD-DVD in the near future. already multiple blogs and websites pro hd-dvd are pushing digital downloads more this past week than anytime in the past.

Keep researching, but I highly doubt that you are going to find a WB internal memo on the net stating their intentions. WB will announce their decision when THEY are ready, and not beforehand. Until then, it's just a rumor that has a pillar of fire feeding the smoke. The actions of all parties involved from studios to insiders on both sides, coupled with the major news coverages, worried HD-DVD shills, and Toshiba's posted loss of 336 mill due to HD-DVD this week just fans the flames even more.

The reason why rumors are classified as rumors is because there's no proof to back them up. Looking for proof of a rumor is fruitless - I suggest you stop wasting your time and just keep an eye on this board.

If definitive proof does emerge, you can rest assured that someone here will notice it and post it ASAP.

There are no "real" or "objective" thoughts out there. There is just data, spun data and opinion. If you look at the data and not what people tell you, then you can gain some insight.

Yeah that's junk, I was on a HDDVD group on facebook reading around and some 'insider' claimed the HD DVD boxset for LOTR was complete and awaiting a release date, possibly at CES. This group was created by Toshiba apprently. Blu Ray has some groups too, I read them alot. Another good source for some "rumors".

Seriously, I doubt Warner is switching anything anytime soon. Which really sucks.

My hatred of the War is now turing to them and their dual support commercials which are turning fence sitters off even more.

AYE! No use of that word here - 'noob.' We are all grown men. Use 'idiot,' 'fool,' 'knave,' 'serf,' 'slack-jawed yokel' - etc.

It's hard to get any objective info on this site.....I prefer blu ray and the catalogue is WAY better than HD.....That being said i'm not trying to smell
what someone at Sony had for lunch like alot of people on this site seem to be......

It sounds like most people on this site think DVD's are better quality than
HD Dvd's.....

I do beleive Blu will eventually win, or else well have 2 formats.....

But since I'm A MOVIE FAN, i bought a HD drive for my 360 so i have access
to all the movies....But that's just me

Congratulations for doing your part to prolong the war...

PS, you have access to all movies if you only have a Blu-ray player: you can play DVDs.

pfft, no one here is prolonging the war. based on weekly numbers, which are small overall anyway, it hardly matters if there are ppl here who buy both because they love movies. no way i would buy a movie on DVD anymore, if it's universal, so be it i will buy the other format. doesn't mean anything.

neutral studios are prolonging the war... it's time to pick a side!
