Default SVS SBS-01 System good for Onkyo 705

http://www.svsound.com/products-sys-sbs_black.cfm

Just wondering if anyone has bought the 7.1 speaker system and can tell me if it is as good as it sounds. Read alot of reviews and have all come back stellar. Just wondering if anyone here has had experience with these speakers. They are pretty cheap compared to other brands. But I have read that the Subs from this company are the BEST in the industry. Is this all true. Thanks.

I don't think you can go wrong with the SVS system. It's a great bang for your buck system and I think you'll be impressed. Just remember to break the speakers in for a while, well, just as you would with any other new speakers you'd get.

I am sorry. What do you mean by break in exactly?

What I mean is when you get the speakers all hooked up, play some music at moderate levels for a good while, that will "break them in" so to say. Basically, you shouldn't listen to any set of speakers critically until after you use them for a good 40-50 hours. The sound quality from when you open the box and start using them to after a month or so of constant use should go up.

Would anyone recommend a comparible system (especially on cost) which sounds/looks better than this?

I really don't think you can find anything that can beat this little set-up for the price. I mean, I could recommend something that would be about 300 bucks more but for $1100 shipped out to you the SVS system will provide some great sound, especially that sub.

You could look into Ascend Acoustics for a speaker set-up and then get an SVS/Hsu sub but that will end up costing more.
