I got the Onkyo 605 from eCost for a great price:

http://www.ecost.com/Detail.aspx?edp=38607351

Only $290 shipped. It's refurbished but comes with a one-year warranty from Onkyo. It came in the mail in about 3 days.

The 705 will cost you almost twice that much.

I know the picture shows the unit as black, but can you or anyone confirm that this is in fact the price for the black and not the silver model?

Thanks

But the 705 has the same processor and DSP cores as the 805. If it were me, I would go with the 705 if I could not quite get to an 805.

bump.

I'd really like to purchase this receiver, but it would be nice to know if it is the black or silver model which is being referred to in the link. See my previous post.

The MFG's part number will have an "S" after it if it is the silver model.

It's the black 605 he's talking about. If you can't afford something like an 805 from Ecost, then the 605 (black) will do justice . $4 of a difference for colors is really good.

Is there any noticeable difference between a new 805 vs. a refurbished 805? I'd love to grab one from eCost at that price.

I can't comment on the Onkyo, but I purchased a Denon AVR-3300 from PCMall - eCost is a subsidiary of PCMall a few years ago as a refurb and it looked brand new.

The difference at the time was a 90 day warranty vs a year warranty.......

What are you going to run off of it for a player? If you have a player to decodes the codecs, I'd save a ton, and get a year-old higher end unit that passes through the audio/video.
