Default Which Onkyo is best? 605, 705, or 804?

I was wondering, which Onkyo reciever is best, the 605, 705, or 804, they all have HD audio connections, so i was wondering, which is the best overall, HDMI, and sound quality? Thanx

Do you mean "805", rather than "804"? Someone may correct me if I'm wrong , but I believe the main differences between the three are these:

605 - Dolby TrueHD, dtsHD MA, 2 HDMI slots, 90 watts pc
705 - Dolby TrueHD, dtsHD MA, THX Select2, 3 HDMI slots, 100 watts pc
805 - Dolby TrueHD, dtsHD MA, THX Ultra2, 3 HDMI slots, 130 watts pc

The 804 has Dolby Digital, DTS Digital Surround (no HD decoding), THX Select2, 105 watts pc

The answer to what is best really depends upon your power needs and budget. They're all great receivers. If you've got the budget and a large room, I'd choose the 805. I have a small room and a budget to match, therefore, I bought the 605.

I got the 605 as a second amp to my main movie room which has an uber THX ultra2 amp (pioneer AX10 IS).

The 605 is a fantastic amp and the audio is very good, great sound. and is ideal for smaller rooms that dont need alot of volume (605 is plenty loud though).

like anything the more you spend the better the specc. the 875 and 905 have great video processing (reon VX).

the 605 wont upconvert your other signals, but will convert component to HDMI etc. great value for money but the 875 and 905 is where its at if your serious about home theater. (of course you can add the likes of Denon, yamaha, and pioneer in the mid to high end game)

I would spend the most you can budget for, you tend to keep Amps alot longer than players etc.

I'm thinking about picking up a 605 today. I have read some comments that the picture quality is degraded some through HDMI vs. running the HDMI cable straight to the TV? Anybody have any input on this? I have a PS3 and would be running that to the receiver etc. Any comments would be appreciated as this is the only thing keeping me on the fence about this receiver.

the PQ is not degraded at all with HDMI with the PS3 at all.

the 605 will also pass 1080p24 and again the PQ maintains its clarity. 1080p/24 are just passed thru with no processing.
