Default New Samsung 4k UHD player - M9500

https://www.engadget.com/2016/12/28/...ra-hd-blu-ray/

Guess I know what I be getting next BF! I got the 8500 this year for $190 on Amazon. Think the 9500 will be much better?

Why have t any other companies, namely Panasonic, been putting out 4K players? Are they just not profitable yet? Maybe the 8500 will drop to $100! I'd gladly get another for that price but for a BF price of $200 (presuming it goes on sale like the 8500) I'd prefer the better of the two.

I just got the 8500 a few days ago but I'm pretty sure I'm returning it for a player that lets you turn off HDR. The Oppo is pretty expensive so might wait and see what this and the Sony can do.

Why would you want to turn off HDR?

I don't think I like it due to accuracy concerns and also my wife surprised me with a TV that sucks at it anyway.

I am interested to see how this will simplify the HDR minefield.

As well as the other features it's introducing I'm eager to see what the other players are going to bring to field in terms of new features. Will we ever get to see the Digital Bridge realised?

How improve to new Samsung 4K UHD player M9500 than original Samsung UHD player?

I want this

-reduce more right accurate on HDR10?
-Dolby Vision HDR?
-Information display resolution?
-Better comfortable remote control?
-more apps stream 4K?
-faster loading disc on BD-100gb
-parents guide from movie...code passwords?

Enough?

It's definitely an interesting line. Especially since Samsung themselves have so many HDR TVs of their own that offer HDR but in a limited fashion (like mine). One assumes they will have that in mind when doing that feature.

I don't think that if we pay no attention to the add-ups it will be muche different than the current UBD K-8500.

I wonder if it might have a small hard drive for storage?

Not much.

But it's worth mentioning that samsung actually unveiled 2 new players, this 1 is the better of the 2. The other is more basic.

I hope the player with the "optimization mode" for lower brightness HDR TVs also has an HDR-off mode. Would make it an instant purchase instead of the Oppo.
