Default Running Uncompressed on the PS3

Hello all,

This may be a dumb questions or one that has been answered before, but I have a quick question regarding playing Uncompressed PCM on the PS3. When i do this, should it say "uncompressed" or something of that nature when you hit select to see what is running? I have an onkyo receiver with HDMI 1.1...

When you hit select it may say Linear PCM, which is your uncompressed.

Ahhhh, I see. For some reason I was under the impression that Linear PCM was only 2 channel. Thanks for the info..

During a movie I hit display and usually says like PCM or Linear PCM and then it will have the 5ch and then 48kHz. That's were I usually see it.

You will only get 2 channel LPCM if you are using the optical output on the PS3. If you are using the HDMI output, then you can get up to 7.1 LPCM using the PS3.

If you are running optical, your best bet is bitstream.
