Question El Cantante Question.

I want to see "El Cantante" soon, but had a quick question about it, for anyone who has already watched it.

On the DVD, I'm assuming there are some songs in Spanish. Are all of the songs subtitled in English? The reason I ask this is because I watched "La Vie en Rose" this year, and sure enough, they ruined the movie by not subtitling songs. Why would you subtitle every word of every sentence of dialogue, and leave the song lyrics blank?

Anyway, I don't want to see El Cantante if they screwed up the subtitles as bad as Vie en Rose. Just looking for some guidance on the subtitles, not opinions on Marc Anthony or Jennifer Lopez.

...well, my thought would be its not officially a part of the dialogue...maybe whoever types out the subtitles only reads the script??

Im probably wayyy wrong.

Well, I agree, that maybe lyrics aren't dialogue, but when you have a musical, they most certainly should be subtitled like everything else... I just hate when studios take the easy way out with DVDs and Blu-rays.

I see your point though. I just mainly need to know if the songs are subtitled in English, because I have a limited understanding of the Spanish language, and I want to know what lyrics are being sung. Not too much to ask is it?

The songs are "creatively" subtitled during the movie. Watch it, and you'll understand what I mean.

The need for subtitles is zil.
