Giving away the players is cheaper then recycling them.

Expect lots of giveaways of hardware and software. Toshiba doesn't want to have to pay to recycle this HD DUD crap.

Guys, this is no different than Sony bundling a PS3 or BD S300 with a Sony HDTV. Don't make us look like idiots who post and visit these forums.

Its different in the states than in other countries. You don't see Sony giving them away in Australia, right?

It means nothing really.

In the UK Sharp are giving away a BD player with some projectors, Panasonic are evidently going to be doing a BD player deal if you buy there top end plasmas.

You can get a free Sony BD player with some of the Bravia tv's. etc etc etc.

Dont read too much into things, this is just good for consumers and for HD DVD fans at least they will loss less money
