Default Very neat thing the 60 Gig PS3 does with PS2 games!

Ive been buying up all my old favorites from my PS2 games to go with my PS3 collection. I only have 2 titles left to complete my PS2 collection, Marvel Vs Capcom 2 and Maybe Street Fighter Anniversary Edition (so i can get Street Fighter 3, dont care about the main game). So tonight, i got Tekken Tag Tournament for PS2 and when i popped the disc into my PS3, i noticed that the disc icon was blue. I popped the disc out and put in God Of War, and it was a Gold disc icon. I checked and since Tekken Tag was one of the older PS2 games, it indeed had a blue bottom! Pretty amazing that the PS3 can tell the difference! I tried Disney Golf and same thing, blue bottom.

Also, im upscaling the PS2 games to 720p, and there is a problem, its deinterlacing frames! I can notice it all the time now, those weird lines out of nowhere in motion. Doesnt bother me too much, but there shouldnt be any interlacing when doing a Progressive upscale. I hope sony fixes this soon!

Some PS2 games will play with a slight issue i think, just check the US PS3 BC list that also lists any known problem, i think the PS2 did the same thing BTW, so to have PS3 replicate it is neat

It tell can there's a blue bottom as those games are CDs. Most PS2 games are DVD.

That would explain how it knows then, Tekken Tag and Disney Golf are both CD Based PS2 titles. Still cool tho =)

I am getting this tomorrow for Cris as his Christmas present. I had originally bought the 40g but I am exchanging after reading many reviews on it.
