Green Street Hooligans - Blu-ray Forum

The German version Green Street Hooligans is available, but I was wondering if anyone knew the region coding of it. I expect it to be Region B, but I was hoping it was a region free movie such as another similar movie called Football Factory. If anyone owns this movie any information would be awesome.

Yup agreed. Green Street way too far fetched and just not anything like reality.
Not that I'm a hooligan myself and know any better of course!!

No I'm not either lol, but I've met a fair few of them at matches and know of their personal stories.. Green Street is very far from what really goes on.

Maybe but it still makes for an entertaining movie.

It also implies that football hooliganism is character building in the narrative of its protagonist - so for me it's pretty morally suspect as well as cheesy ridiculousness. I don't know how anyone doesn't want to laugh when Elijah Wood goes into an LOTR style battle, maybe he was like 'well during LOTR I was constantly climbing up mountains arguing with my friend, I wanna get in on some ACTION!'. Plus Charlie Hunnam's accent was dreadful, and his acting not much better.

I agree, i didn't like that either. After seeing him as Frodo, i have a lot of trouble "accepting" him in any other part. However, i thought the movie was very entertaining and i actually really liked Hunnam's character. Shame i don't have a region free player.

I agree people saying that Football Factory & Rise of The Footsoldier are better as far as portraying something closer to reality. Either way, they're all entertaining movies in their own way.

Well I just ordered this from Amazon.de and once it gets state side I will try it and let everyone know if it works on a Region A player.

*UPDATE* The Hooligans bluray DOES work in a Region A player.

While the movie may not be "authentic" its one of my fav's...lexi alexander is brilliant....I can't wait for a us release

anyone know anything about the actual blu ray itself rather than just repeating its cheese and unrealistic over and over agian?

are subtitles burned in?

I heard the extra feature is 'The Firm' with gary oldman does that have burned in subtitles??

So apparently there are only 2 places to get this disc, Australia and Germany. I would rather grab the one from Australia because I would prefer an English cover however if the specs of the German Edition are better, such as a higher birate, I will go with that one. So does anyone else know which one is better?

None of the subs are burned in (main film or The Firm). The main feature starts with German audio so you'll have to switch it but that's it.

I didn't realize it had The Firm as one of the extras I was happy to see that. Apart from that it's got a pretty decent amount of extras as well. I'd say it's worth grabbing, since it doesn't seem like there will be any other releases of it.

I tried to watch Green Street Hooligans from our local library, however it would not go all the way through (enjoyed about 1st 20 min. so I went ahead & bought the BD!).

The yellow cover is the one I have - think I may have uploaded that version originally even. It is region free but if I remember right the intro trailers are not region free, so if you just skip or hit top menu you can bypass that part and get to the movie menu at which point its RF from there on out.
