I think its now going for around $280? (never mind thats the 300 model)

actually, I see at Sams Club the BDP-S301 for $280.

which at first I thought is a typo, but the other day I was there I noticed I saw the actual box and it said "301"...

hmmm.

All the 301 is a 300 made for warehouse stores that includes a HDMI cable. What big spenders there. But I guess for the general population a HDMI cable is something that is expensive.

The cost of a cable is not that big of a deal,but if they are going to give you one for free why not. Besides the 301 is $277.56 at Sam's club versus $299.99 for the 300 at best buy or cc.
