New York City, September 7, 2016 – Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) today announced new peripherals for PlayStation®4*1(PS4™), including a new Wireless Controller (DUALSHOCK®4), a new PlayStation®Camera, as well as a vertical stand specifically designed for the new slimmer PS4™ and the PlayStation®4 Pro (PS4®Pro) systems – all will become available in Japan, North America and in Europe starting from September 15, 2016*2. SIE will also introduce the Platinum Wireless Headset this holiday.

• New Wireless Controller for PlayStation®4 (CUH-ZCT2 series)

The new Wireless Controller for PS4 (DUALSHOCK®4) allows the light from the light bar to emit on the touch pad, making a new luminous line in the same color as that of the light bar. This provides gamers with visual information, such as which character they control or health status, at a glance for more intuitive gameplay. Furthermore, the new DUALSHOCK®4 supports USB communication*3 in addition to the currently available Bluethooth® communication, allowing users to have control also via cable. The new DUALSHOCK®4 wireless controller will be available at a manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of 5,980 yen, $59 USD, €59 and £54*4.

• New PlayStation®Camera (CUH-ZEY2 series)

The redesigned PlayStation®Camera (PS Camera)*3 inherits all the features available on the current model, including PlayStation VR (PS VR) support*5, and features a new compact cylindrical form. PS Camera includes a stand allowing users to easily adjust the angle of the PS Camera and set it up in their preferred location, such as on top of their TV or entertainment center. The new PS Camera will be available at a MSRP of 5,980 yen, $59 USD, €59 and £54*4.

• Vertical Stand (CUH-ZST2 series)

The vertical stand is specifically designed for the new slimmer PS4 and PS4 Pro*6. To bring out the best of both system designs, the stand was made with translucent material to resemble the “shadow” of the system when set vertically. Two different attachments are bundled so users can mount either the slimmer PS4 or PS4 Pro with ease. The new vertical stand will be available at a MSRP of 2,280 yen, $24 USD, €19 and £16*4.

• Platinum Wireless Headset

The Platinum Wireless Headset, which will be available at a MSRP of 18,000 yen, $159 USD, €179 and £129*4, is a high-end gaming headset that makes games on PS4 come alive with rich and immersive audio. The headset boasts premium construction and materials for extra comfort, as well as enhanced highly positional 7.1 virtual surround sound powered by SIE’s proprietary 3D audio technology. Select PS4 games supporting 3D audio for the headset will deliver surround sound from all directions, including above and below you, for more immersive experiences. The new premium headset also features multi-position, hidden noise-cancelling microphones for clearer chat and is also compatible with PS VR and mobile devices using an included 3.5mm audio cable.

Through the introduction of attractive new peripherals, SIE will continuously enhance the PS4 ecosystem and vigorously promote the expansion of its business.

I just hate all Playstation headsets in general from a quallity standpoint. I've had the original for PS3, and now a gold and both of them have had problems with peeling earfoam crap. Is there a way to change out the fake leather foam part?

Hmm, had my Golds over a year now and they in top condition. I do feel the hinge is a little fragile, so I'm just careful!

Yeah I've had my gold since like 2013 or 2014. They're still in like new condition. I must have the best luck ever when it comes to Sony products, lol.

I have two pairs I rotate with. As long as people treat them as always "fragile" I don't see anyone having issue.

I had one crack down the headband & replaced it new. They do wear in over use which is unavoidable but as long as you take good care of them, they should last for years.

I don't think that I game any harder than the avg gamer. But the anniversary (grey) gold headset was broken within 6 months. My black wireless golds look just like they came right out of the box. In fact I have had the black pair longer than the grey pair. I play the same amount of time if not longer now then when I initially got the anniversary edition.

Went through two Sony Silver Wired Headsets. Worst piece of crap quality headsets. The fact I wanted 7.1 VSS and not have to worry about battery life made them an idea choice but they fall down in several places including the comfort aspect.

If the headset I suppose lasts as long as if not longer than a typical Dualshock 4 battery charge then should be fine but I hope for a much better version from the new headset.

The stand supports both the slim and pro models that's why there are two connectors included.

New camera comes out on the 15th again, nothing actually new or improved on this it's just a redesign, and in the UK it actually comes with the stand now, where as before it just came with the camera. £42.99



The new vertical stand also launches on the 15th, £16.99 fits both the new slim and Pro.

Nope, we paid double the price for half the content! Rip off Britain at its finest!

If we wanted the stand you had to buy a 3rd party one for an extra cost that was identical to the one you guys got included in the box
