Question Another Wall Mount Question

I am considering buying a wall mount for my 50" Panny. I want it to be as close to the wall as possible. I don't need tilt or anything fancy. Just solid!
Should I be concerned with heat build up having it mounted close to the wall Any recommendations?

Read your user manual. It should provide in detail the minimum clearances you'll need for proper ventilation and heat dissipation.

I would highly recommend you follow the minimum distances. A friend of mine didn't with his Panny, and it overheated and died with a loud pop and smoke.

Ive got my 50" panny plasma wall mounted.

The one I have sits about 4" off the wall, which is actually perfect since the cables stick out of the back horizontally. Which I would assume yours do as well.

Monoprice makes excellent wall mount! $30!!

Check out my setup.

Thanks for the info. Yeah, the owners manual, why is it that I put it away in a drawer and forget about it after I spent $1500 bucks on the Flat Panel.
Crackinhedz, looked at your setup, and it is how I envision mine to look.

I am just going to run my existing cords thru a small hole in the wall down to behind the cabinet and back out to the reciever etc. So no wires will be showing.

My wife won't know about it being hung on the wall till she gets home from work and its already been done.
That doesn't worry me. The approval part will come in to play when I tell her why I hung the TV on the wall. To make room for the new Axiom VP150 center channel of course

You can't run the power cord through the wall. It is against fire code and if there is ever a fire and this wire was found to be the cause, insurance WILL NOT pay out. You will need to run a receptacle in order to hide the power cord.

Same reason I wall mounted mine. New center channel.

<--- Check out my gallery.

BTW, I used a Monoprice wall mount for my 50" Panny plasma. Works great!

I also wall mounted my 50" plasma when I got a new center speaker (pics are in my HT gallery). I got my mount from monoprice for about $30. IMO it sits about the perfect distance from the wall considering the HDMI cable sticks straight out the back. However, if you get closer to the wall and don't have room for your cables, you can try one of these.

I use one of the port savers on mine. I do not notice any picture degradation with it.
