Default The Bourne Legacy Review Thread (Spoilers)

Quote:
We’ve known a fourth Bourne movie was going to happen for awhile now, in fact producer Frank Marshall has been talking it up for months. But apparently these days nothing is real unless it’s on Twitter. So now that Marshall tonight announced it on his Twitter page, it’s definitely going to happen! I give this Twitter frenzy another two weeks, then we can all quit hyperventilating and actually get around to enjoying it.

Though most of Marshall’s Bourne related Twitter posts were actually kind of old news, he did offer one useful tidbit. They have a release date. Well not a release date exactly, but he says they’re shooting to release it in summer of 2011. Though in the past Marshall had talked about releasing it in 2010, that makes sense they’re still writing the thing. Odds are Matt Damon will be back and so will his kicking of ass. That’s all anyone can ask.

Man, I still feel they wrapped up the trilogy so nicely, but I guess if Damon returns along with Greengrass it's highly unlikely the movie will be bad.

+ 1 -- Greengrass has turned out to be the perfect Director for this series.

Somehow I still can't see "Matt Damon" and "Kicking of Ass" in the same sentence without laughing so hard I almost knock myself unconscious from lack of oxygen.

I hope the story is good. They have progressively gotten better in the series IMO. Can't wait for 2011. So many films I want to see.

I like Matt Damon, but if Greengrass comes back, I won't bother. I can spin around my office chair until I puke for free. Death to shakycam!

I agree. It got a little rediculous in the third film. And, he influenced other films to use the style too *cough* Quantum of Solace *cough*. But at least he didn't do the in-your-face fight scenes like he did in the second one. I hated that. COuldn't tell what was going on.

They need to have him not running and more of a Bourne Supremacy (the book) story going on (forceably forced back into action by the government or similiar). So as to remain true withing the series but still be fresh.

The books are to complicated for a theatrical movie, a mini series would be good. The movies are still very good though.

Personally though, i'd prefer they end the seires with the third one. Everything has been answered that was initially questioned, it really doesn't need another movie. Though the studios will want one as it made so much $$$.

Default Bourne Legacy gets writer.

Universal Pictures announced today that Tony Gilroy is returning to write the script for The Bourne Legacy, the fourth installment in the Jason Bourne franchise. Gilroy is also writing a "franchise bible." He penned The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum.

Frank Marshall and Pat Crowley are also back to produce alongside Captivate Entertainment's Jeffrey Weiner and Ben Smith.

While "The Bourne Legacy" is a book written by Eric Lustabader in Robert Ludlum's "Bourne" series, the film will not be based on it.

Matt Damon has gone on record that he wouldn't reprise the role if director Paul Greengrass is not returning. We'll have to wait and see if this announcement changes Damon's mind

LOL! Me too! Well, not that long ago, but still sealed, haven't had a chance to watch it. I vaguely remember the 1st when I saw it in theaters, the 2nd I never saw, and part way thru the 3rd I fell asleep! But I had gotten little sleep the night before and went to an extremely late showing. So I'm giving these another shot!

I don't mind him doing #4, plotwise, who's left for him to go after? Or will he rescue Pamela Landy?

I don't think Damon will do a 4th if his director (Paul Greengrass) doesn't return; he's said it a million times he won't do another one without him so obviously there's a Great working relationship already in place & they both respect the hell out of each other. Damon doesn't Need whatever $$$$ they'll throw at him (if Greengrass isn't available, or they can't come to an agreement), which would prob. be upwards of $20-25 Million plus back-end points. I'm sure he made Plenty with the last two & they prob. gave him a nice "bonus" with the Success ($214 Million Worldwide, $121 Million Domestic - 2002) of the first one anyway, before signing on to the last two installments.

They won't DO IT without Damon; everyone knows/wants HIM as Bourne, end of story. Hopefully IF they do a 4th (which they don't Need to, but as usual, $$$$$$ Talks), they'll get Greengrass back, as he obviously has a great working relationship with Damon & everyone involved in this series, & Is a Great Director.

Some decent names there, but as I noted above, I don't see this franchise moving on "Successfully" without Matt Damon in the Lead role as Jason Bourne, & hopefully with Greengrass returning in the Directors' Chair.

Default Tony Gilroy to Direct Bourne 4

http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=70354

Quote:
Tony Gilroy, the director of Michael Clayton and Duplicity, has signed on to direct the fourth film in the Jason Bourne franchise, reports Deadline.

The film, currently titled The Bourne Legacy, comes from a script by Gilroy, who also wrote The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum, both of which were directed by Paul Greengrass.

Although leading man Matt Damon had previously stated that he had no desire to return without Greengrass at the helm, he has also admitted to being excited for a fourth Bourne outing. Even with the shift in franchise directors, attempts are certainly underway to negotiate Damon's return.

The filmic Bourne series has been loosely adapted from the novels by Robert Ludlum. The original film, The Bourne Identity, was directed by Doug Liman.
