Default Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul

Quote:
Fox is rebooting its “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” franchise with Jason Ian Drucker and Owen Asztalos on board for the fourth film in the series.

David Bowers, who directed “Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules” and “Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days,” has been tapped to helm the new film based on Jeff Kinney’s book “Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul.”

“Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul” follows Greg Heffley, who goes on a summer road trip with his family to visit an elderly relative though he’s secretly hoping to attend a gamer convention.

The original Wimpy Kid movies were pretty funny. Hopefully a new cast will be able to retain that magic. Everyone in the cast for those gelled so well together.

Love all three of them. A reboot is fine seeing as he's not a kid anymore

Yes the wonderful young cast certainly makes it work, they are all utterly fantastic in their roles.

Second one. I think the third was called Dog days of summer or something like that.

So is this a reboot in which the earlier films are still cannon but with a new cast or are the earlier films not cannon? I'm just wondering cause the guy who directed 2 of the earlier films is directing this one too.

God damn this looks terrible.

How is this getting a May theatrical release? The cast looks so Z-list.

It does look bad. I will give it a chance. Like others are saying, they are guilty pleasures. I already miss Steve zahn.

Now, as a fan of the books, this may be faithful, but it doesn't look that good. I mean, I remember the original films and enjoying them. Hell, I even remember some of the cast:

Zachary Gordon
Devon Bostick
Steve Zahn
Rachel Harris
Peyton List

The first film randomly had Chloe Moretz too. I thought all 3 of those movies were pretty funny. This one just looks like a straight to dvd (not even blu-ray) mess.
