Default The Conjuring 3

Quote:
“People are people so why should it be/that Valak gets Bill Wilkins to possess me?“*

The recent success of The Conjuring 2 means that talks for a third movie are inevitable. When a movie does well at the box office, people want to keep that money train rolling, so a new entry is as good a way to ensure that as any. Therefore, it’s no surprise at all that James Wan is already getting inundated with questions about The Conjuring 3, even while the second film is still in theaters.

Talking with IGN, Wan states, “I do have something specific but I’m not going to say it. But I will say this – I do think Conjuring 1 and 2 are both set in the 70s, I think Conjuring 3 has got to be set in the 80s.” He continues by saying that the Warren case files allow for a lot of different scripts. “They do have a lot of stories so I think, organically, if we’re lucky enough to tell future chapters, there’s a lot of stuff we could be pulling from.”

In fact, Wan tells CinemaBlend that, “…between the writers and the studio, I think they have a short list of their favorite, like basically the top 20 or 30 of the Warren’s favorite cases.”

As for Wan’s own visions, he wants something a bit more exciting and even a bit more “hairy”. “Maybe we can go and do it like a classic American Werewolf in London style. That would be awesome! The Warrens set against the backdrop of The Hound of Baskerville.”

No matter what, I fully trust Wan in whatever story he wants to bring to the screen. He hasn’t done me wrong yet and Trace just wrote about how important Wan is as a director. If he wants to tell the story of Ed and Lorraine Warren fighting off a werewolf, I’ll be there opening night!

I honestly think and hope it is the Smurl family for the next one. The Smurl family was one of their bigger cases from the 80's.

I'll be there, I've enjoyed both Conjurings and Annabelle. Looking forward to The Nun, too.

Will grudgingly go see this, then likely complain about how bad of a movie it was.

Edit: Words

I have little doubt the Smurl family was a hoax. There is strong evidence the Enfield case was a hoax too. I live right near Pittston though so I want to see a major movie involving here.

I am game. I love a good ghost story. Thought the second one was much less coherent than the first one, but for some reason I also found the second one more scary, whereas the first one to me was the better made movie, though it never really affected me.

Annabelle was pure crap IMO, and besides Sinister 2 probably the worst horror movie I have seen the last couple of years.

Sinister 2 was just boring. The first scared me a lot. The twins in the sequel were not that bad although I was surprised when one of them said ****.

It's "too soon" for the Smurl family story in my opinion... The series are following the cases in chronological order, and I truly hope they don't skip some of them...

The Warren Cases

1970 - Annabelle - Adapted as the prequel movie Annabelle + Sequel planned
1971 - Perron family - Adapted in The Conjuring
1976 - Amityville - Prologue to The Conjuring 2
1977 - The Enfield Poltergeist - Adapted in The Conjuring 2
===========================================
1981 - Trial of Arne Cheyenne Johnson (Demon murder)
1983 - Werewolf Exorcism
1986 - The Haunting in Connecticut - Already adapted, but not in this franchise
1989 - Smurl family
[????] - Union Cemetery

I can see that point. All I know is he wants to do it in the 80's though so there is a chance. It is just my hope. Very little is set in my local area of NEPA for major movies.

If they're going to go in chronological order of the Warren's cases then the Arne Cheyenne Johnson case will be plot of the next film.

It's a old news, but is hasn't been posted here.

Quote:
[...] the time setting is not the only thing that will set the upcoming "The Conjuring 3" apart. In an interview with Cinema Blend, James Wan hints that the next installment could touch on a subject not covered in the previous films, that of werewolves.

"Maybe we can go and do it like a classic "American Werewolf in London" style, offers Wan. "The Conjuring 3" director could be referring to a case of demonic possession which happened back in 1983. According to Inquisitr, real-life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren took on a case of a man in London supposedly possessed by a supernatural entity which made him act like a werewolf.

Source
It seems that Conjuring 3 might adapt the 1983's Werewolf Story. If they follow the same artistic vision from the previous two movies, it is very possible that the prologue will be about the aftermath of the 1981's Trial of Arne Cheyenne Johnson.

Next, if they ever do a Conjuring 4 could be about 1986's The Haunting in Connecticut and The Smurl Haunting.
