Since some retailers are beginning to display the Christmas decorations early, we are creeping closer to the annual shoppers delight (we all hope) that is Black Friday/Cyber Monday or whatever title they give it. The trends over the past few years have frankly been bummers. Certainly a few titles to be had, but generally all the back stock titles that either we all own or no one wants. That being said, for all of us collector's what do you predict to be a make or break Holiday shopping season for all things Blu/4K (Movie titles only) as we close out 2016.....

According to the posts in every weekly ad thread for the past several months, every single movie released this year will be $10 or less.

I'm hoping for a good deal on Mr. Robot season 1. I feel like it hasn't gone on sale since it was released.
Another few titles I didn't pick up in hopes of potential BF deals are: Keanu, American Crime Story: People v OJ Simpson, The Shallows, The Revenant, The Lobster, The Jungle Book, Neighbors 2, Green Room, and Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates. |

Black Friday hasn't been all that amazing the past couple years in my opinion. They've really ruined the event having it more or less run over 2 days now. Used to be stores opened 4 AM Friday, now they're open at 6-8 PM Thanksgiving, it's sort of ridiculous.
I still go out, it's still a tradition and something to do. A friend and I go out, try and get some Christmas gifts bought and we get to hang out at the same time, it's fun but I'm not going out for the movie deals because I get most everything on release day anymore, I've funded my Blu-ray buying for a year and a half now on Ebay and by selling digital codes. |

Usually first week of November they slowly start rolling out with the less important stores (Staples, Office Depot, etc.), then every few days until mid-November, we get our big chain BF ads like Walmart, Target, Best Buy.
I'd say that most should be online to the public by 11/16, about a week before Thanksgiving, if not much earlier. |

Black Friday is still pretty good for stocking up on blu-rays IMO. I usually hold off on new releases throughout the year because I know I can stock up for cheaper on black friday (or now, more like the week of black friday). It'll probably be the first time many new-ish blu-rays hit $10, and for prior years releases maybe the first time some hit $5. |

This may come as a surprise to a lot of people, but I may have to pass on Black Friday this year. Yes, I'm being serious. lol It actually depends what's going to go on with my house situation. We put our house up for sale today and we're planning on moving soon. It's going to depend how long it takes for us to sell our house, so if it happens within the next few weeks, I won't be getting anything because I'll be busy packing everything up. Also, I'll have to log in to all my online accounts and change my address to the address we'll be moving to. So I don't want to order a bunch of stuff and have it shipped to my current address because I may not be living here by the time the packages arrive. If I have time, I may hit up a couple stores, but if you don't see me post any Black Friday hauls, that is because I'm in the process of moving.

I rarely buy full priced movies anymore, minus Black Friday. So unlike many, I always find a good pile to bring home.
I think many don't like the deals cause they buy movies all year. When you hold off, there's tons of deals....plus you save so much money. |
