Perhaps they can back out of their contract...
As of yet we don't knwo the details of it
BUT a get-out clause would be nice.

18 months being exclusive to an obsolete format...OUCH!

If all parties are smart, they will come to an agreement which allows everyone to save face.

There are many in Paramount that were pissed at their own company for going HD DVD exclusive.

Many that worked on Blu-ray were fans.

over at hdd. i mean how could they not be pissed. this doesn't trigger an out clause according to our insiders, universal is going to be neutral really soon. they were probably promised the world by hd dvd (cheap players that sell millions, more studios onboard, easier interactivity to work with) and now look like the ass hats of hollywood and very well have to support a dead format for the next year and miss out on big profits from day and date blu-ray releases.

Well, we're not going to get big news on the weekend when their offices are probly closed. But soon. We've a major victory today; just a little more patience and BD will see unanimous studio support. MaxPower was implying that Paramount will take longer, while Bill Hunt was mentioning Universal could already be prepping to port their movies. I respect both of them.

I've hearing stuff about the Weinstein Company from Penton, Bill Hunt, and others. They'll probly say something soon.

I would expect an announcement of sort from Universal. Will Graffeo speak, who knows since he has been an arvid HD DVD supporter. Just remember that in all of the corporations there are diverse positions and oppinions in all major issue. there is always an ongoing struggle for power. Graffeo's position is in peril. It is going to be an interesting week!

He'll leave (or get booted) before they make the switch.

I really think Tosh is going to let them out of exclusivity, and fairly soon. They have been passing themselves off as consumer friendly, and this would cement that.

Also, it would help cement their relationship with Sony which has been hugely beneficial to them of late.
