Default Behold a Pale Horse (1964), dir. Fred Zinnemann, starring Gregory Peck - 7/16/19

Behold a Pale Horse (1964) will be released by Twilight Time on Blu-ray on July 16, 2019. This will be a limited edition of 3000 copies.

Quote:
Modified synopsis from IMDb...Twenty years after the end of the Spanish Civil War, famous loyalist bandit Artiguez returns to his native village from his French exile to visit his dying mother. But Spanish cop Vinolas is setting a trap for him.

Quote:
From Turner Classic Movies...Fred Zinnemann's source material, adapted for the screen by J.P. Miller, was a novella by British filmmaker Emeric Pressburger entitled Killing a Mouse on Sunday. The book was based on a real-life Loyalist guerrilla who kept making sorties over the French border for years after Franco's triumph in 1939, and the film opens twenty years afterward, with the protagonist, Manuel Artiguez (Gregory Peck), seemingly resigned to bitter exile in the Gallic village of Pau. The once-daring fighter has remained a subject of Ahab-like fixation for Capt. Vinolas (Anthony Quinn), the police chief of Artiguez' hometown. The prideful policeman is himself looking at the end of a career that he'll regard as a failure without bringing Artiguez to heel.

Directed by Fred Zinnemann (High Noon, From Here to Eternity, The Day of the Jackal, A Man for All Seasons, The Member of the Wedding, Julia, Oklahoma!)

Starring:

Gregory Peck (To Kill a Mockingbird, Roman Holiday, Twelve O'Clock High, The Big Country, Moby Dick, The Snows of Kilimanjaro, The Guns of Navarone, Mackenna's Gold)

Anthony Quinn (Zorba the Greek, Lawrence of Arabia, Lust for Life, The Shoes of the Fisherman, The Guns of Navarone, The Secret of Santa Vittoria)

Omar Sharif (Doctor Zhivago, Lawrence of Arabia, The Night of the Generals, Mackenna's Gold, The Last Valley, Genghis Khan)

Music by Maurice Jarre, who scored over 170 films, including Lawrence of Arabia, Doctor Zhivago, The Year of Living Dangerously, Witness, Ryan's Daughter, Fearless, Gorillas in the Mist, The Mosquito Coast, Enemy Mine, and the TV series Shogun.
