Hey guys, I some questions regarding internet speed and wireless home networking. Currently, I have Clearwire as my ISP and also have Wireless Home Networking set-up using a Linksys Wireless Home Router. Anyways, my roommate just got a new laptop and wants to connect it to my home network. Whenever he connects, does it slow down my "internet speed" at all in anyway? I just recently purchased Warhawk and noticed that my Ping is somewhat high and I am leaning towards increasing the bandwidth speed just to make it lower, but how does someone connecting to my wireless home network affect my overall speed? Does it at all? I am thinking of charging him half of what I pay if I share my network, but I need to know first how does this whole home network play out? Your input would be great. Thanks.

You are both competing for your ISP bandwidth. So depending on how much down and up speed you have, you could very well be experiencing degraded performance if you are both pulling/pushing data to the internet at the same time.

Technically it should work fine. But some systems suck.

It actually depends on what he is doing while using the internet connection. If he is just surfing the internet you probably won't see any difference, if he is downloading or especially uploading your ping in the game will be very bad and you will see a difference.

Some wireless routers have interfaces (type: 192.168.1.1 on your browser). You can limit bandwidth to certain computers/devices.
